Do I need a BK-7 if I already have a 9 and a 2?

Hi guys, I have 2 BK-9's and 2 BK-2's, and to fuel my becker needs, I was wondering if I should pull the 7 or not. I have all in the production becker line except the 5, 15, 16, 7, and 11. Was really interested in the 7, but I was wondering if I really need it or not given I have the 2 and 9 to pretty much cover most knife tasks. I was thinking also getting the BK-5 since it's a unique knife that may do slicing tasks better than the ones I have.

I had the same question until I bought a 7.

Yes you do.

The only bad thing about picking up a 7 for me has been that it made me pick up my BK-2 a lot less. BK-7 is awesome; strong, light, big enough, small enough, awesome!

Yeah, pretty much...The 7 is a legendary design made even better. One thing though is you might start leaving your 2 behind after buying one...I know I did.

In all seriousness, probably not. But if you can afford it without defaulting on any bills, why not get it? It sounds like you want it so unless you're a hoarder with knives stacked in every room of the house then might as well.

I have a 2 and 9 and I don't see why I personally need a 7. However the BK10 is coming back eventually and I really need one of those.

A lot of folks love the 7.
Unfortunately the 7 is the only Becker that just "didn't do it" for me.
I've had two and ended up getting rid of them both.
Now the 5! Oh I love my BK-5. Very slicey, very fast, very awesome!
Where's Clich when you need him? BK-5 rally!!

I don't have a BK7, but if you already have a 2 and a 9 I'd get a 5 or a 15 before I got a 7. Or if you need a big woods knife get a 4.

that's my feeling too. I'm not a huge fan of the 7. it's an awkward length, IMO. Too short to chop like The King, but too long to be nimble at the point with a regular grip for anything but stabbing. I don't have much use for stabbing at stuff. If you want a general purpose FIGHTER, I'd seriously consider it.

I agree with this. it seems you also have the 14? so your covered small to large blade. why get a mini 9 before you get something a little different? in your case id want in this order

1.bk15, would even out your collection and make a wonderful slicer/cooking knife
2. bk11, totally different look than the other beckers with its unique handle
3. bk7. i know its just badass.
4. bk5. i feel this is just a large 15 and if your carrying other large knives (the 9 or 7) id opt for the bk15 over this.
5. bk16. i honestly like this the most out of the tweeners but why not have a different style blade?

basically i feel we all need a bk2. a bk9 or bk7. an 11 or 14 and a tweener. the choice is yours and the rest is just fun to collect.

I believe may be considered 7 is a kind of intermediate .. in my case I could not resist and bought a 2 and 9 why he wanted too...

Give the 16 a little bit of consideration.....A 9 for the big stuff an 11 or 14 that is always on you and a 16 for all the stuff in between.....Just a thought....

Ethan

I luuuuuv my 16.......

It's a Becker. You know you'll own one eventually. Just succumb to the Siren's song and buy the damned thing.

I love the lines and feel of a -7.

OK, so this one's been modified a little -- it's still a -7 at heart:
