Do I need a "company" name, or should I just use my real name?

Or....

If you go to sites of knife dealers all tou will see there is the maker's last name with few if any showing otherwise. These peop;e are the ones in the sales business 24-7 Frank

Yes. :D Now let's see an actual blade with that.

Now that the Dragon is substantially larger, I'm going to go in under the like 400% zoom and fill it in to a nice dark line all the way around. Then of course I have to have the stencils made.

And oh ya I have to make a knife too........ Stay tuned. I'll dig this thread up when all's said and done.

If people want a knife from a company, they'll buy a Buck, or Schrade, or Gerber or something. When people buy a HANDMADE knife, they want the maker's name on the blade!

Aren't all those company names the last name of the original knife maker ;).

I would just go with the last name and a logo if you want.

Also, doesn't knife laws require the country of origin to be printed onto the blade?

I started out with Blacktoe Knives, But I mark my knives with my name. I am move toward my name and away from Blacktoe knives.

I went thorough about a week of trying cool designs and stuff for a "company" name on my knives. What i ended up with was a clean smooth flowing font with my first initial middle initial and last name. I love it, it's not overdone or garish. It just looks nice.

I sold factory knives as a hobby for awhile years ago. I used SDS Knifeworks then. It kind of stuck. Now that I make my own knives I kind of wish I had just gone with my name instead. SDS Knifeworks seems easy enough to remember so I'm not going to change anything at this point.

My mark has SDS Knifeworks with Oklahoma in the center.

I wouldn't put marks on both sides of the blade. Just my opinion but I think that starts cluttering up the blade. Let the knife do the talking and your mark is just to let people know who made it. I like clean and simple.

Your last name is unique enough that you shouldn't be confused for anyone else. I like the mark on the last page with your last name under the dragon. I'd incorporate the S from your name into the wing and go with that.

My two cents.
SDS
