Do I need to add a first initial to my mark?

I know, I know... I actually have to FINISH some knives before this is relevant... but I have been getting time in the shop as I can.

What I'm wondering is this: I seem to see a lot of people in the knife world with the last name Wheeler.

So do I need to start adding my first initial to my mark???

Thanks :)

No.

There could be benefit in the future.
I don't see a downside to doing it.

Then you haven't looked at enough WHEELER maker's marks.

The WHEELER is JUST so much cleaner than N.WHEELER would be, IMO.

Nick change it to NICK WHEELER WASHINGTON STATE USA NORTHERN HEMISPHERE EARTH and then find a spot to place your J.S. mark

Don't tell him stuff like that, Jason. He will actually stay up for the next 5 nights trying to figure out the best arrangement to fit all of that in a standard 5/8 inch stamp!!!:D

Holy crap, I got Jason Knight to post on my thread?!?! I better go buy some lottery tickets and stuff ;) :)

STeven, thank you for your succint post! As my friend Fitz would say, it is brilliant in its brevity. :) I have an Evers stamp that reads N. Wheeler, and I don't really like it.

I like my first name, I just feel like STeven that the last name is cleaner alone.

Oops, I edited too much of my post. I wanted to say thanks to everyone for the advice. I really appreciate what you said Russ!

Jon, I think I can just use a red or green sharpie so it will show up on your damascus fighter.

I agree with Steve on this one. Especially convinced by the pictures posted.
Don't go fixin what ain't broke.

Thanks Lorien :)

I'm still laughing at freak'n Knight's post... :D

I did think of an upside to keeping it as is. I could make a really big piece of crap knife and if somebody questions me on it, I'll just blame it on one of the other 12 Wheeler knifemakers ;) roflmao

there's some kind of pop music icon by the name of Nick Wheeler who shows up when you google the name. Instead of JS as the Knightrider suggested, or MS, perhaps RS would be most appropriate.

In all seriousness, I would have started with my full name as the stamp. However, yours looks good as it is. I dont think it would hurt to add the name sometime. Josh Smith did it recently and I think its nice.

Hello Nick,
Why not create a distinguishable logo to stand out
among others? Your initials or "Wheeler" in a unique font?

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Nick could always take jason knights stamp :). David, I agree that some kind of logo would be cool.

Like a Nick Style GIANT anvil.
