"Do-It-All" Fixed Blade

for all the camp chores except for batonning wood, i would like a repala 4" fillet knife, you can bone out your deer and not have to carry the extra weight, as far as food prep, it has and is doing well in camps all over the world.

then i got my skookum bush tool, and would have to place this at the top of the list for compact knives that will do what you ask for in the woods, the edge on this knife is incredible. it is the right length and has the right type of handle to spend time carving or heavily working a knife without raising a blister, sharp enough to handle the cooking and game processing, and stout enough to handle the wood chores. i would reccomend these two knives as good choices for the camp chores.

This custom from ML Knives is close to perfect for this scenario for me.

It is a 1/8" thick, 5.25" blade of 1095, full flat grind (forged), a full 5" handle of maple, Matt radiused the spine of the knife for me, ground it thinner than his usual. The sheath is nice as well, heavy leather, good retention.

That looks pretty good to me as well bro !!!!

I think a thick blade is what I'd rely most on in a Survival situation but my thinking now is that a thin blade is probably more usefull !!!!

I am going to have to go with a Dexter Russell six inch beef skinner. Simple stout knife that takes an awesome edge and excels at most tasks I need it for. Joe
