This is WAY off-topic, but it seems a lot of you guys seem to have a permits. But Its not a concealed gun permit its a "weapon" Permit, so dose this include knives?

If this needs to move, feel free mods :)

It would depend on your state and local laws. There is a forum here devoted to knife laws. I'm sure you could find your answer over there.

I've read that in some states you can get edged weapons specifically listed on your permit, but the cops are going to look at you funny and ask a lot of questions when you make that request. A couple guys at my former martial arts academy tried to get edged weapons listed on their permits here in CA and were turned down.

The advice to check in the knife law forum and with your local authorities is good.

In Washington State, it is called a concealed pistol license (CPL) and, as the name imples, it is restricted to handguns only.

In contrast, a Florida concealed weapon permits concealed knives and other weapons, but only within Florida. (Just because a state grants reciprocity to a FLA license holder doesn't mean Florida laws apply.)

OK that kind of sucks, but its good to know, thanks FLIX!

Knives are not covered under the Tennessee handgun carry permit.

In NC knives are not covered. But if a cop knows you have both your knife and your piece on you, the knife is probably not going to be his main concern.

Even though South Carolina defines them as concealable weapons, they are not defined as such in the Concealed Weapons Permit. That is defined as a Pistol of a certain size and not any other type of Concealable weapon. So it is not covered under your permit here to carry a knife concealed. I think in some states it indeed is covered and the permit covers them too. But it is, state by state.

I too am a little confused when it comes to the law regarding the carrying of knives. I live in Delaware and as I read the law it states that the only knife permissible is a pocket folding knife whose blade is less than 3 inches. Does this mean that a fixed blade in a sheath on your side is not allowed (probably so)? I thought there was some law stating that it was OK to carry a weapon (handgun in holster, knife in sheath) if it was not concealed. Can someone help clarify this law for me? I

Not sure about other states, but here in Ohio there's no such thing as a concealed weapon permit. We have a Concealed Handgun License, and it applies only to handguns. A knife would still count as a concealed weapon here. This is how it was explained by a few LEOs and two lawyers.
