Do knives get old too?

It's not a matter of metal vs. organic. The sword in question here is bronze. Bronze has different chemistry than iron or steel. Storage conditions still matter but bronze doesn't "rust" like iron or steel. So why don't we have bronze blades in our EDC knives?
I combined subjects here. But it's still true - absent corrosives, metal isn't just going to break down over time. Organic compounds do, steel doesn't.
The Sword of Goujain (sp?) had chrome in it too, as well as a tight fitting scabbard.
As for bronze vs steel there are a few factors.
IIRC, in mass production steel is historically cheaper. Steel can also be made harder.
