Do Micarta clip holes strip out?

I am wondering if there is a danger in taking off the clip from a Micarta handled knife like the Calypso Jr. or the Jess Horn model. I'd like to try carrying without the clip. Can the threaded holes be stripped very easily? I would like to be able to put the clip back on if need be. Anyone have a comment?

Greetings Mark. From my experience with the G10 Wegner(2), the screws thread only into the G10 and is secured with locktite. I asked Sal Glesser about this and he recommended that it be sent back to warrantee dept. as all of the Wegners should have clip screws threaded into the steel liners! It follows that all G10 Spydies with steel liners should have screws threaded into them. Of course, Sal would know better.

Mark - The Calypso jr doesn't use a liner. You could successfully remove the screws and go clipless. Not a bad carry as the knife is quite light. Be gentle if you return the screws into the micarta. Use a drop of lock tight (not the permanent type) on the screws when you screw them back in. Don't overscrew and you won't strip the holes.
