Do Native American Combat systems still exist?

I've never seen one with such a skinny handle before, and the leather band holding the head on doesn't look very secure even if it's glued. I dunno.

There were a lot of different styles.... Usually the head was inserted in a split at the end of the handle and lashed on, but one cool way to make a tomahawk was to split a branch on a living tree, stick in your head, and come back in a year after the wood grows around it.

Thanks Cougar for the info. I often wondered about the strength of this one. All the weight is in the hammer, no weight at all in the handle. Although I do know it is at least 50-60 years old. Maybe made to be sold as a trinket.
Thanks again for the info

I haven't had any real luck yet searching the net. One of my best hopes would be to check some Cherokee literature. In the early 1800's, Cherokee leader, Sequoyah, invented an alphabet for their language, (Tsalagi?). If any of the native groups recorded their techniques, the Cherokee would be one of the most likely.
