PhotoPoint is undergoing a major layout change and plans to be down from 1AM EST to 12 noon EST on 2/28/01. Since a lot of us use PhotoPoint as a hosting site, a great many pix and links will be inoperable till they come back online. Of course, as we all know, computers are so highly perfected now that they can be counted on to come back exactly at 12 noon....
We now return you to your regularly scheduled Forum

How about a link Bro or is it just
Zing.com?
Another place to put pix may come in handy some time.

Every photo I've ever posted on this forum has been through geocities. You setup an account and get 15 megabytes for free. I've had the same account for a couple years and I still have over 10 mb free. Geocities is part of Yahoo.

Here's a picture I recently uploaded. It came up in a gun board where we are considering a group buy of Unimog trucks. These are the larger model and are appropriate for this forum since our knives come from their springs. And they must be good springs to survive loads like this!

Geocities no longer allows linking to pictures on their sites.

A lot of people were using Geocities for pix because they could put just the pic in a post without any ad like the Photopoint ad that comes along with any pic you link to at Photopoint. The trouble was that meant Geocities got nothing for their bandwidth, not even a mention. They put up with it for a long time, but no more.

When the thread 1st loaded there wasn't a pic on Gregg's post so I grabbed the URL and went there, I come back and there's the pic!!!!

And Oh My Gawd, What a Load!!!
I would sure hate to try and drive that over a mountain road that was narrow and curvy!!!

No wonder the khukuris are such knives. From the pic you would think they would already be flat when the kamis get them!

Well heck Cougar. I've been doing this for a long time and now it isn't working. When I put up the link last night I could see it. Now all I see is the broken icon. I bet I know a sneaky way to do it. Give me an hour to set something up. (If the two little children cooperate; I'm at home today.)

I'm still pursuing my options but Yvsa's comments gave me a workaround idea. Go back up to my original post and right mouse click on the broken icon. The box that pops up should include "Open this image." That will open a separate page with just the image and that worked for me. It will let you see those two amazingly overloaded Mercedes trucks anyway.

Here goes my first try from within photopoint.

EDIT: That looks fine to me. Can everybody else see it?

That is a whole mess of ppl. I am really amazed that the frame of the truck can hold up to that!

I think that I want one of these trucks now.

I have seen the super modified expedition version of this truck, they plan to test it in death valley this summer

Matt,

These pics are of the full size trucks. Notice the truck on the left has three axles. These are not Unimogs. Unimogs are kind of a middle size truck. Much bigger than a car (especially in height) but length and wheelbase are in the normal range. I figure I can drive one through my gate and into my garage. You can buy reconditioned Unimogs from several places in the US. There is a big dealer near me in Fayetteville, AR that sells them for $7000.

I can find you some links if you are really interested.

Yeah. That would be a good thing. A cheap(ish) truck that is h&ll for stout! My little Suv is getting on in years, and it would be a good thing to start thinking aobut a work truck, and a car for the wife.

A couple of us (motorcylists) have been looking to get a truck that we could load bikes into, along with tools, camping gear etc. Right now there are about a half dozen of us. I think that this is a good option.

Manyt thanks for the help,
Matt
