Back in February I entered a trade with snowreaper1 (Evan Erickson)

After a few days of emailing back and fourth (quickly too) we decided on a trade for my sebenza 25 and spyderco southard for his hinderer xm-18 3 inch slicer flipper and $60 cash...

He said he was going to ship the next day after we agreed upon the deal and didnt end up getting me a tracking number until 4 days later. He had requested i use ups as usps had "stolen" from him in the past and never honored there insurance... So me wanting to satisfy both parties went ahead and shipped both knives insured for $700 (which cost me $22 out of pocket).. When i asked what carrier he used he said usps priority.. Doesnt really make sense considering his "past experiences were bad".. I ignored it because i was so eager to get my first xm..

It was supposed to have been delivered on a saturday but since i was at work and he required a signature for it i wasnt able to get it till the following monday.. Monday morning comes and i am estatic to get my hinderer so i head out to the post office.. After waiting in line i go to the counter and the lady brings it out.. I comment on how light it was to the lady and for some reason decided to open it in front of her (glad i did). Guess what i found, a few pieces of magazine paper and a letter from evan stating that inside was my xm, $60 cash, and a slipjoint for the delay in shipping.. Pretty hard to figure since the box only weighed 4.6 oz.. I then email evan to ask what it was about and no response..

Days go by and i become frustrated and send him another email... He claims they must have stolen it and also mentions he recieved my knifes.. Here is where it gets good. Prior to our trade i noticed he lived three hours away and asked that we meet up to exchange, he denies claiming he has moved to arizona, but for some reason ask me to send my knives to mike sparks (his buddy) at his former employer double k industries.. Also the box i recieved was sent from one of those self help machines (wonder why he didnt want to use a human employee?) also out of simi valley..

After a week of no communication i email revdevil and request he call me so i could explain the situation.. He then emailed evan and sent me to a post by tussery regarding more issues with evan.. I then realize i have been scammed and tell evan if he doesnt send my knives back or the money he owes me i would report him for mail fraud.. He gets all defensive saying he doesnt want to speak to me until he talks to his family attorney.. In a final attempt to let him make things right i offer to let him keep the sebenza 25, send me the southard as well as cash (so we both took half the loss) and he agrees saying hell take care of me. Come to find out he had already sold my southard (i know because the buyer emailed me and verified it as mine).. He stopped responding to all emails, disconnected his phone, and had stop logging on to bladeforums..

i eventually report him to the postal inspector as well as ic3.. Its been three months and im still out $700.. Been wanting to inform all you sooner but have been too busy to dedicate enough time to writing this.. I realize ill probbly never see that money but hope he at the very least he becomes banned and his rep ruined as a product of his actions

Wow..... Amazing all of the trouble some people will go through to be dishonest:thumbdn:
I am sorry that happened to you, don't let it bring down your opinion of people here, most members here are upstanding citizens.
I am glad that you filed mail fraud, at least that gives you some sort of hope.

Very disappointing. I wish you had known of the events that would take place after sending your knives away forever.

Wow...That suxx, and I'm sorry that you lost your end of the deal to an obvious thief and liar. Empty box...unreal. :thumbdn:

snowreaper1 has been shown the plank (banned).

This thread will serve well to warn others, but may I ask you to please post his email address and/or any other info that would help folks to identify him? This will help so that if he tries to pop up and run another scam, those who read this will recognize him as a bad egg, or find matches to him along with what he did and why he got banned in a search should he try this crap on others.

I do hope that you get your property (or equal value in cash) back, that he gets every bit of what he deserves, and thank you very much for alerting the rest of us to avoid him like the plague.

Sorry this happened, it is horrible. It's very strange that he has 64 positive feedback and has turned into a thief, I certainly would have traded with a feedback score that high.

So he got 2 of you with the same Hinderer. :thumbdn:

I hope someone catches up to him.

He also had a solid feedback on JD... It's strange...

D.C.Johnson,

Your next course of action should be contacting the postal inspectors for mail fraud after filing a report with your local law enforcement and possibly his. Please see this: http://www.bladeforums.com/forums/s...spectors-Does-It-Work?p=12109900#post12109900

Thanks for the info karda.. I will definately do that and post any updates

Also for full disclosure he did purchase insurance for $600 ($100 less then we agreed upon) and i have been dealing with that, however i think when i reported him for fraud i took my chances of getting it away.. I will update you all on if i ever recieve it or not

Thanks for sharin story & "Heads-Up on the douche bag.
All my transactions have been thankfully good & smooth--which is what you expect from folks.

Mark

Sadly, this is happening way too frequently. People who are paid members or who have strong feedback records suddenly go bad.

I remember i did file a case with the postal inspector, i will post a pic of what they sent me.. Also Karda when it had happened i called his local police (3 different departments to be exact since they kept saying he wasnt in there territory) and one lady in phoenix was rude and snickered at me saying, "what do you expect us to do? Knock on his door and force him to give you your knifes back" wish i had gotten her badge number.. I do however have the gentleman's id # who i spoke with when i contacted the fbi

Hope you get your stuff back, That really really sucks. Hopefully the scumbag gets whats coming to him, Either prosecuted for mail fraud, or bloody snot bubbles, and a few missing teeth from a local member. I'm gonna see if he's on other forums and will let the admins know on there if he is. Just a heads up he's not loging on here but he logged onto the USN yesterday at 4:34 p.m. Reported him to the USN admins as well...

Hey guys just wanted to let you all know I recieved a check in the mail today from usps for $505.60.. So essentially I lost $200 which is better then the full $700 i suppose. Thank you all for all your support.

DCJ, How were you able to file for the $600 insurance that he purchased? I thought that was impossible and only the person purchasing the insurance and actually mailing the package could actually file a claim and receive the check.
