minor issues

1)
names
styles
steel -440c is great
name and style - you want the greatest latest or the one all like.
lock, metor lock or wennie lock - seriously who cares - how many failed knives - do you hear about? next to none?

will you really use it much? or is it just in case?

2) ok what is the post:

i have seen this before, exactly, it was the gpu race in the late 2000's. System bottlenecking, latency vs bandwidth of memory - same deal. Few will understand it. ATI vs Nvidia, pentium vs AMD dual core

There are so many good knives, with so little difference remember that! Remember, frame lock may work better in big hand then a linear lock. A 9" beast might be small too me but a 7" folder large too you.

Be open minded! This is not wine and cheese, this is a complex observation by a long time knife junki 42 years when my cub scout knife got replaced with kbar lock blade and then my buck sheath knife a year later.

There are so many good knives, forget the advice and try them out!

part 2

i have asked a long known paki maker too produce knives for testing too see - if and how good they are. They b, AS THEY, ar. Being bought randomly and they, maker, will not know who or when. I have asked him too participate.

lets really see if ther ats-34, 1095, standard damscus and 440c meet hardness and toughness. Sharpening is not part of the test, as included, in that low costs knives should expect too be sharp but need further sharpening - agreed all?

This is very interesting test, and i hope it will either dismiss or approve the beliefs held by most. My, buyer name is not know, nor his this account too the maker.

Let the games of knives begin!

I have bought and sold knives only for myself for years, i choose this maker due too he made me knives i requested - subhilt, classic fighters and standard paki knives.

I really hope I can get interest in all you folder people, while not have a $70 or $50 or 3 or more with your $400 folder.

I really want too know myself, i need testers. The knives will be given free? Not sure?

PM me please. is a 58-60 really that or 54?

If there is no interest i move this somewhere else.

here is one, i asked too be made:

Am I the only one that's mildly confused? I mean I get most of what your trying to say but Part 2 kind of lost me a little.

NVM I reread it a few times and I get it now, I think... What will the "tests" be exactly?

A most confusing thread, not sure what the intensions are????

Also, what is a "paki" maker?

I am always confusing this is 2 threads in one

1) it is advice, too newbies

2) it is, a challange too foriegn maker who makes, variable quality at low prices. i emailed him he can not link my buying, my selling and my posting accounts easily

my point is that you should balance your knife collection, you should have good folder, good fixed but some cheapies are good too.

the analog too chinesse folder, (many new knives are made in china) or pakistan as is a paki (this is a seller and maker) fixed blade in many cases, so lets test some - i got plenty!

new buyers do not get hung up on steel grade, grinds etc. buy what fits you - go too store - it is fine too order from our sellers here from the internet but check fit and style.

thumb stub maybe too stiff, but that may be one knife
a spider hole maybe too small, did you try another - i did not
a flicker, just flicks out, may not be stable - this is loose blade wrist action only deploys it

so both my first 2 post tie together, maybe a lower cost quality folder and cheapie fixed?

Yep, they b, as they, ar. You said it.

i picke that up here, many many foriegn knives, even brand name are made in pakistan - they are old makers, they are on cross roads of damscus (Syria) and (Woot )india

woot is deposit of highly desirable alloy
same as damscus - may have been a lost technique as good, or not as good, or better then japeenese folders of staw and iron = steel

both came most likely from large meteor.

meteor was iron, but had alloy
woot was an unknow but most likely meteor deposit

got think dudes!

No offense, but I have stopped to read a few of the Op's posts and they are all seemingly nonsense. I am not trying to hurt feelings if he is genuine, but his posts sort of reek of something odd.

d shift

this thread should not die, too many people lack history, lack science, and should base there collection on ballance of such

o that is cause i wait too long, eye issues, after sun set too look at a computer screen. plus i am not very..... patient > spell that

it is not non sence others will decypher - sorry i am so confusing.

well, i have no interest but teaching people - would take a good subhilt for $200 to $300 yes, i have a dozen but if i could not afford that, along with all the fighters i have is this not a good alternative for $150 give or take $30 or so. i own these, but i doubt i test them. take it for what you want - i think these are nice but is the steel good? THAT IS THE QUESTION! HIGH CARBON AND STAINLESS:

YAYA THEY NEED SOME POLISH AND SHARPENING BUT? FOR THE PRICE?

It's just you have a very hard to follow writing style if it can be called a style. :) The combination of word placement and grammar just makes my head hurt. I think your heart is in the right place it's just going to be hard for people to take this thread serious I'm afraid.

Much like watching Cloud Atlas, I'm so confused that I'm intrigued to see where this ends.

OK I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT YOU MEAN - is that a super hero thing?

i see all these newbies dwelling on $150 plus folders - buy some cheap stuff and beat up and an learn.

there it ends1

your right! hmmmmm????

better not too post?

better too post scrambled eggs? well if you do not like yokes pick out the whites - i guess

We need a white knight tester, that has a lab. That is the only answer

I hope you do not consider me rude but may I ask what is your first language?

So you are looking for data on knives made for you by a fella in Pakistan, but in order to test the knife, the tester must first buy it?
Will the knife be replaced under warranty in the event of failure?

I think I get what you mean Dargonsprayer, I hope you don't mind me summarizing for my own clarity:

a)
There's no need to nit pick - there's heaps of great knives out there, plenty of great steels. The differences between steels are minute in the context of a knife. Any of them will likely serve well. Same applies to locking mechanisms.

[*Me personally (Bill Blake) being a sword man I prefer high carbon steels, even for knives, even though they are subject to corrosion, it's just a personal preference.]

b) Just because a knife is cheap doesn't mean it is rubbish. Even cheap knives are almost always fit to task. We rarely hear of blade failiures. Most people are not using knives in a life or death, or combat situation, but rather for everyday tasks, so variances like the quality of the steel are not likely to be a matter of life or death.

[From my point of view a good illustration of Dragonsprayer's point is that humankind got by just fine using Iron and Bronze knives before modern engineering steels were available]

c) I believe he used 'Paki' just as an abbreviation. I don't think he meant it to contain racist overtones - I'm Australian and people regularly call me 'Aussie' - I think he was aiming for the same thing.

Am I close to the mark Dragonsprayer on the above? I actually think you are making some good points here.
