Do women belong in the kitchen or the shop?

That's funny right there. The baby pachyderm with face in the mud is a feeling I can relate to.

The knife is great and the reefing/caulking tools look good too. Way more polished than most of the smith work I see done around here.

Good luck keeping ME out of the kitchen or the shop. Everyone belongs anywhere they want in my book. (Within reason.)

Guess I really muddled the thread by the title, at least we got to see a great pic of the talented Delana's lovely nails:thumbup:

David, I'm very excited about your new book! I started a FB page last year for us called Ladysmiths Int'l where we've been sharing whats on the bench, thoughts and advice. If anyone hasn't seen the scissors Grace Horne is making now you're missing out! We're also cooking up a crazy collaboration blade that will have seen many countries before its finished :)

Haley, I like the idea off your crazy collaboration blade… If it is all ladies involved,
I WANT IT IN MY NEXT BOOK (Vol. III) so make plans for good documentation (Pics)
of all stages - with the collaborators seen as well - and see that the final product
gets photographed properly (all finished by September 2014, please)….

Or maybe just email me…..

All the best,
David Darom (ddd)

Hehe, you got a good sense of humor, I love the pictures :D

Oh and the the chef's knife is beautiful!

women belong anywhere they want :)

With my having a wife, 3 daughters and a grand daughter, my experience tells me Lorien is 100% correct. ;):)

A very fine piece Haley, one would think you have been creating custom kitchen cutlery for years.

Thanks guys :) The real test with be in their boat galley.

David, Let me get ahold of the ladies involved and see if we can swing your deadline. Thankyou for the opportunity! I'll be in touch soon!

Beautiful knife Haley. It looks like you belong in the kitchen and the shop. You should develop a "ladies chef knife" of your own design, feminine yet hi-performance. Market it to all the wives of us knuckle dragger knife makers.

Very nice knife.
Like Bruce mentioned, maybe a signature "Ladies Chef Knife".
I am picturing an integral petty.

Thanks Bruce, I would love to do that although I'm not sure I can improve much on hundreds of years of Japanese cutlery experience. Maybe once I learn the basics I can add my own style without compromising function. I've got this one's big sister in my kitchen right now with a tape handle so I can test it out for awhile before I etch and finish it...plus the sweet stabi wood I ordered from Burlsource should be arriving about that time:) This is my first purchase from you Mark and I'm excited to check it out. I've admired your goods on Scott McGhees blades.

that is one of the most astute things I've ever read.

I saw the subject line and thought, "Oh man is that a loaded question!" :D

Awesome knife Haley! I'm certainly no kitchen knife expert, but it sure looks to me like you nailed all of the important elements.

All my experience around boats, involved aluminum... so I don't know the first thing about working on/with a wooden boat, but those are sure some cool looking tools! It would be awesome if you could post some photos of the tools in use! :)

BTW- Love that perception collage!!! Me and that baby elephant would really understand each other. :D

This is a great idea. I'm sure there are many other collectors like me who would love to buy something at knife shows that wives/girlfriends will appreciate and use. Something to say thanks for putting up with my hobby and travels.
