Do yall keep/add your own lanyards or no?

I don't like lanyards or fobs and never use them on my EDC knives. I do use a lanyard when I'm goin to be traveling quickly, I'm over/in fast running or deep water or doing something high off the ground. That is only when safety or losing the knife is an issue, decoration is not something I'm into. :)

i really like them but they are handy for use without a pocket clip. I have fun with it, using various beads and various colors of paracord to make them.

where do you find your beads!

The snakeskin damascus is from Mike Draper, the twist cut mokuti is from Andy Frankart and the others are stock Hinderer beads. The Wilson Combat came from my Starbenza and is reunited with it. The lantern is called a glowworm and I bought it from the maker in Germany, it's NLA but there are a few around still.

I tie all my own lanyards and I put 'em on different knives for different reasons.

I use 'em to give me a little more grip on an otherwise short handled knife, kinda like a mag extender for a small frame gun.

I like to use 'em bottom pocket knives, I'll put a little monkey's fist on the end and that'll ride just above my pocket so when I need my knife I just grab the little monkey's fist and yank.

I use it on a fixed blade as a tether/keeper and static line for the sheath, add-in when I need the knife I grab the handle and yank the sheath come off the knife and starts attached to my belt.

I also use 'em as a decoration, I have one on a knife for no other reason than when the kids in school were makin' bracelets for Christmas gifts when my daughter made hers she told her teacher it was a lamb-yard for daddy...

So I'll use 'em if I feel a need but if I use 'em I make 'em for the particular knife.

I'm sort of surprised by the split here. I expected probably 80-90% no with a minority in favor of the lanyards. I took my factory one off last night. I gave it a try for a few days and I'm still undecided by the concept, but I wasn't a fan of that particular one. It was in the way it felt in my hand and rode around my pocket. Maybe I'll order some more attractive paracord and a hinderer bead and try that. I like the idea, but I'd need to find a way to make it more comfortable in the hand and acceptable sticking out of the pocket.

I enjoyed having a lanyard for awhile until about two weeks ago. When I was getting a haircut, the building was packed so when I finally had a chance to sit down it was next to a little kid. As I was reading a BF thread I felt the lanyard get tugged and the kid was really trying to pull on it. Luckily his mother noticed the situation just as I did and pulled him away before there was any kind of scene. She apologized and walked out, however that was enough of a scare to be done with lanyards.

I've kept the lanyard on my small sebbie. I've noticed though that the lanyard towards the lanyard-pin is quite frayed, most likely from the tip of the knife slicing it.

Ding ding ding , ditto.

I keep a small loop lanyard on all my smaller knives, and make a habit of slipping my little finger through the loop when pulling the knife from my pocket or sheath for use - it allows me to quickly empty my hand to grab or catch something or to climb without dropping the knife or pausing to put it away. Then, with a flip of the wrist, the knife is back in my hand and ready to use again.

Most of the time I prefer no clip and no lanyard. But, if I find the right bead, then I'll put it on a lanyard and let it dangle outside my pocket. Zaan inside, bead outside.

I always take mine off as soon as I get the knife, I don't care for the way it looks. I have removed the clip from a couple of my sebenzas, but that depends on the inlay.

Generally, I i keep mine off. The only exception would be in a circumstance where a dropped knife = a lost knife, like Kayaking, and then I tie it down. Otherwise, it's just in my way and adds unnecessary bulk.

I never used a lanyard on any of my other folders. Until my Insingo, it just feels right:D

I don't have a lanyard on any of the three large CRK's that I carry but I do have one I tied on my small Insingo. It gives me a little more to hang onto and makes it easier to get the knife out of my pocket. I'm not worried about anyone seeing the lanyard or noticing the knife, it's under the legal limit. I used to think it looked funny hanging out of my pocket but I figure that I'm ugly enough that nobody will notice it( they turn their heads in fear like I'm Frankenstein ), I've grown as used to it being there as I have my ugly mug in the mirror.

I like them on non-pocket clip knives and fixed blades. I wish Chris would make the large lanyard pin like the small so it will stay in the frame without a lanyard. The pin completes the knife IMO.
