Do you carry a knife, but rarely use it?

I carry the knives that I like to carry. My normal use is to slice an apple at lunch, open some packages or envelopes, maybe cut a few strings and threads. I have on occasion pulled out my knife at a restaurant to cut something that the provided knife wouldn't cut.

I almost always will use my knife for SOMETHING during the day. I also carry a little Leatherman P4 Squirt that get's pulled out and used on most days as well.

One day about a month ago I woke with horrible headache and totally forgot to grab an EDC knife for the day, and also forgot my flashlight and Leatherman. When I got to my first client and realized what I had done, I felt so naked that I had to go out to my car ad grab the Spyderco Delica that always resides there.

I actually find a use for my SOG Trident everyday because I don't mind beating on it, and no matter how many times I remind myself that a knife is a tool and needs to be used and, my nicer knives see less action.

I wear slacks and have a desk job in a city with some tough knife laws so my carry options are constrained by these factors and I just don't need much of a knife in terms of size on a daily basis so I found myself gravitating to compact traditionals. Capable and available if I need it but not necessarily used every day.

Although I carry a knife daily, I work in an environment that never requires one. Occasional threads or envelopes but not much else. I would say whichever blade I am carrying only sees use 1 or 2 days out of the week. Despite this I carry daily because I never know which day or two of the week it will be.

Due to this my daily carry (on workdays) has dropped in size, typically a benchmite in the 5th pocket of my jeans (I know this is the spyderco forum, sorry) I also have a leafstorm and techno on my short list to fit the same carry pocket.

I'm pretty much in the same boat. While I can come up with an excuse to use my EDC, it's normally just as easy for me to reach for a pair of office scissors or my Leatherman Micra to perform most of the tasks I'd ordinarily use a knife for. But I've developed a carry method that works well for me, is virtually invisible, and allows me to carry a fairly good-sized knife. So I carry a knife every day whether I need to or not. Here it is:

Now you don't:

Crappy serrated chinese steak knives that shred instead of cut steak?
