Do you carry a loaner? If you do, what do you carry?

To be honest. This is the first high end knife that I will let someone use . Because it can stand up to a total dumba$$.

It's also my only daily carry folder.

XM -18 3.5 Non flipper Spanto M 390 @ 16DPS roughly. Slight convex @ 600 grit diamond finished on .5 micron diamond paste on bare smooth leather followed by naked suede.

Of course, I still ask "what for? "

I don't carry anything super high end. My daily carry folder is a knifeworks exclusive CTS-204p Military.

I'll loan it out to the guys at work. They know it didn't come from wallyword and treat it accordingly.

Even though I am a knife guy I can't see myself carrying a second folder just for someone else to use.

NO - you want to cut something? Show me what you've got and maybe I'll do it for you. I am generally a generous person
but with knives I am a self absorbed SOB. :D

I generally carry an Opinel, so their is no 'should I loan this knife?' type dramm

but when I carry my opinel #8 an my gec #15 at the same time and I and the another person both have cutting tasks I generally give the other person the gec (for those of you who don't know my gec can sell for about $90 US)

if a knife is damaged/lost I don't generally replace it(unless its an opinel, am have grown very fond of them), and I don't usually sell my knives so in my mind the value of the knife is based on how much I like it not its retail price I like my opinel, and although I also like my gec it simply isn't worth as much to me.

in summary unless you plan to sell it the decision on weather or not to carry a loaner should be based on how much you like your knife not its original cost a

small opinel(perhaps a #5) would make an affordable loaner if you decide the knife is worth it then you then you can protect your knife, avoid being a jerk, and avoid giving more money to the makers of low quality knives for almost no money and very little pocket space

No I don’t but I would to some people but they all have knives of the own.

I don't carry a loaner knife. But if I worked somewhere that my coworkers were always asking to borrow a knife, I would keep one just for this purpose. Generally speaking, unless I know someone pretty well, I don't loan out my knives.

I almost never hand over my knife. I only carry one and I ll also offer to cut something for someone.

Sorry I meant to say, “I just tell em, I’ll cut you!” While going crosseyed at the same time.

extra loaner knife, what do you guys carry?
Here's the story I always tell . . . often to the fool that is asking to borrow one of my tools :
There was once upon a time a young apprentice. He forgot his dial caliper (or was it a micrometer ) at home. He asked the other guys if the old dude would lend him one of his.
They said he would have a better chance asking to borrow the old dude's wife.

I do carry this little knife though. Mostly for doing jobs a knife shouldn't have to do. I found it in the street one day a long time ago. I will grudgingly lend it to a trucker if they ask.
I once hockey pucked it the length of a semi trailer so I didn't have to climb into the container and the poor bastard didn't have to walk all the way down to get it. All stainless . . . handle and all. I think it might say NAPA on it.

I carry it in the front little pocket of this belt pouch.
