Do you Carry by Destination?

The knife laws are all pretty much the same everywhere here in Finland, so if I'm going to town to buy clothes, knives, shoes or knives, I take the puukko off my belt and throw a small fixed blade or medium folder in my pocket. They're easily concealable so they won't scare the sheeple, but if, for some reason, it is seen, I can just explain that it's for whatever I need to cut and I'm not going to stab anyone. The Boker Escape Knife is my favorite for these situations.

Our California laws and enforcment are actually pretty good for knife carry. I really don't worry about what I carry unless I go to LA city area. If I am carrying a folder I am not concerned about size. From my personal experience with LEOS if you are not causing trouble they will not hassel you for carrying a blade.

I often carry a fixed blade & have never been stopped or even questioned about it. If I leave my general area then I adjust my carry based on the area & laws.

I absolutely do consider where I'm going, and how I get there. I almost always have a Victorinox Hunter. I also normally carry a lock-blade or fixed-blade knife of some sort (Benchmade Mini-Barrage, ESEE-3MIL, Lone Wolf Trailmate). My work bag also has a Leatherman Wave and extra tool bits.

All of the above are fairly discrete and I can carry the fixed-blade in my work bag. If I'm going to be in the woods I usually take a substantial fixed-blade knife, like my Benchmade Rant or ESEE-3MIL on my belt, along with whatever hunting knife seems appropriate, in my pack.

Obviously when traveling by commercial air carrier, I can't take anything, unless it's in checked luggage, which is a shame. I know it's all in the name of making everyone feel more secure, but it's still a shame.

I live in semi-rural UK and normally carry a Victorinox alox Soldier. Although the Soldier is totally legal, whenever I go to London or other cities I carry a red plastic handled Victorinox Compact. In most peoples eyes a red Swiss Army knife isn't allarming but the metal handled Soldier is unfamiliar to alot of people. Also my Soldier has some sentimental value to me and they're not made anymore, so I'd be pretty upset if it were confiscated at a museum or something, losing the compact wouldn't break my heart though. I like to carry the Compact when we take weekend trips to Europe too so I have the scissors and the corkscrew.
