Do you carry knives other than Buck?

I'm just wondering how many of you here carry knives from other companies.

I'm finding that the more I read Buck stuff the more I want to only use them. I currently only own one Buck (my 110). I own some Kershaw's, Benchmade's, and a few others. I mainly carry a Benchmade 940 right now. I'm afraid to use my 110 as it's a 2005 model and I think it's neat with the Idaho print on the tang. I guess I need another 110 or a 112 :).

The ONLY knife I carry that is not a Buck is one that was handmade by a friend of mine and given to me as a gift. It is a copy of a DDR made with AUS-8 steel and cocobola wood handles. Aside from this one, if its not a Buck, I'm just not interested...

Wellll.... The first knife that I'll grab is the oldest folder I have, a Schrade+ Uncle Henry LB5, that has been carried in my left-front "change" pocket for so long that I've forgotten how long. On my right hip I have a 2004 Buck 110 and a old-style Leatherman Wave, both in their sheaths. Clipped to my left-rear "wallet" pocket, I have a 'Made in China' Gerber Paraframe II.

The Schrade Uncle Henry LB5 would get the first crack at cutting, then the Gerber Paraframe II, then the Buck 110, and finally, the Leatherman Wave. So far the Uncle Henry has, by a goodly amount, done the most cutting, and I haven't required my "back ups," yet.

I'm also a fan of Victorinox Swiss Army Knives (SAKs) and multi-tools.

I would say that I carry only Buck, except that I bought a small fixed blade by a MS for a really good price. I've been carrying that alot lately. I'm liking the fixed blade for EDC:).

The Buck 196 is close in size length wise but because they differ in style, so the 196 is not as convenient to carry. That and the fact that the only 196 I own is the Club knife and I'm not going to carry or use that one:rolleyes:. I may get a production 196 and see how that carries. Preston

 ...I always carry a Buck knife in my pocket or on my belt...but I also carry an old Frontier 4515 in another pocket. I use that one for anything that might scuff or damage my Bucks...Like cutting thru staples or popping the lids off paint cans or digging screws out of my Mustang's tires...LOL... This week the Buck is a 532 with the BG-42 blade. Last week I felt like a 112 "kine" guy and that's what I carried. Not sure what it'll be next week but it will be a Buck. If I ever get the 112 I picked up last week I may start carrying a drop point 112...I just never seem to know what Buck will end up being the main weight in my pocket or belt, but it WILL be a Buck...:thumbup:

I have a Buck 110 and a Bucktool 360 on the left side of my belt and a Case Trapper on the right side. In my pocket I usually have a Case Canoe or an old Stag Kabar stockman with a broken blade. I started out as a Case knife collector but have switched my collection to Buck knives. I think what changed me was the quality of the knives that Buck has, even though it really disappoints me to see the China knives, as I will NEVER own a knife that isn't stamped USA! I also like the customer service whenever I call the Buck factory with a question.

I own a variety of knives. I appreciate Buck Knives for their quality and value. I carried a 112 for several years in the Air Force and used it almost daily for duty related chores. I own probably 25-30 Buck's right now. But my EDC is a US made Gerber E-Z Out Jr. with a part serrated edge. It is light and the one hand opening works for me very well. It is also inexpensive enough that I will not be out a bunch of money if I lose it or forget to leave it home when traveling by air. I also own a good number of Schrades and a large number of Victorinox SAK's (maybe a hundred or more). Plus a few odd and ends pieces from most of the major companies, and a couple of custom fixed blade knives. I cannot say I really "collect" Buck's, but I buy any that strike my fancy, usually traditional patterns like the 110/112, plus a number of Buck made M9 bayonets. :)

edited to add: Like many, I do not like the Chinese made knives, whether by Buck, or any other US maker. Eventhough I use the Gerber E-Z Out, that company now sells so much Chinese made stuff, I no longer pay much attention to their products. I hope Buck does not go down that same path, because I think it would damage the company in the long run.

I'm a youngster (relatively). My 110 is a great knife. It's substantial, comfortable to use, and cuts well. I cut my teeth however on one-handed tacticals. As much as I like my 110, it is much more inconvenient to carry than my Spyderco Military is. The 110 is HEAVY, and the lack of a pocket clip is a big negative.

I just can't seem to shake that 172 Mayo out of my pocket, but at work I'll abuse the 178 Adrenaline. I've even been known to carry my own knives:rolleyes:

Hey Kamagong...
Recently I have not carried anything much other than Bucks. You can see knives from other brands I've carried in this thread (post number 15): http://bladeforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=386843

"mfinden" was my old name before I coverted fully to Buckism where I had to change my nic to join the cult.

Have you considered a 560?

I almost always have a Buck on me - 172, or 501MS, usually. But I will also have the stray Queen, Benchmade, or Spyderco, too.

I often carry a large classic inlay Sebenza , sorry Buck i love your knives but but a Sebenza is the ultimate production folder for me :D And i like ( just as much as Buck ) all things Victorinox , there quality is superb for the price and so usefull .
Sorry guys but you did ask ;)

Is that the model with finger grooved titanium handle? If so, then not really. I don't really like finger grooves. It also doesn't have pocket clips which is a must for me. I like to wear my knives IWB and clip them to my pocket when I drive. Carrying a knife in a sheath or in my pocket does not give me that option unfortunately.

Just sak's. I love sak's.

In the late 70's and 80's I was into all kinds of knves. I got over it and sold off my cutom collection and gave away everything else to family and co-workers in the late 80's. Went back to just Bucks and sak's.

Usual edc- Buck cadet and Victorinox pioneer.

Fixed blade for woods use- Buck Woodsman, or Special, depending on time of year.

I always have the big Swamt Rat Rat Trap folder in my back pocket. But the little Buck 170 is always in a front pocket. Usually the 174 cutback is clipped in a front pocket. Depend on the situation and where I am as to which one is used. A Dr's office full of patients (Wimmin) probably isn't the place for the big rat trap.

And the list could go on....

Rat Trap could change to a Buck as soon as I figure out which Buck has G10, S30V, and is the same size, or close.

And I am watching a NTX, an Odyssey, and a 430 that might join the smaller EDC's.

Why just have 5 or 6 when you can have 10 or 15

Depends on what I'm doing where:) Bucks are a part of my collection (I think Buck makes up for close to 20 or so of my 100 plus folder collection). A 112 is usually one of my weekend rotated EDC's, unless I'm camping, then it's a 110 plus both Diamondbacks. A 55 is usually one of my "suit" blades along with a Rush. An 887SBT Police Advocate is a permanent fixture in my Maxpedition Fatboy and an Al Mar SERE 2K also rides in my winter jacket pocket. Others get rotated depending on my weekly "whim":D I normally carry several with me - everything from a SAK onwards:)

Yep, that is the one. My 560 was advertised on e-bay as having a titanium blade too...so I am ever so lucky!!!;)

Based on what you stated as your criteria, you will love the Mayo TNT 172.
I got mine as result of my inquiry on this forum for a IWB. I have carried it every day for a week now. Mostly horiz in a nylon sheath that came with my 560
It has some minor things that bugged me, but then again, I like the toilet paper over and not under...it's "As Good As It Gets". But that is documented in another thread.

Overall, the 172 is a keeper!
