Do you carry more than one knife?

I must admit that I have recently become somewhat obsessed by knives. I do not fully understand my obsession. I bought a ZT 350 and not fully satisfied, decided to get an even bigger ZT 560. I also have now several long slender "gentlemans" knives like the Shun folder and some fruit knives that I picked up from Amazon.

I am having a hard time deciding which knife or knives I want to carry. I should say, I will NEVER use a knife for self defense or offensively. I am not a biker, and don't work for UPS or drive a truck or work in a trade where I need to open boxes or packages. I do occasionally go to the farmers market and sample some fruit or on a day's outting where I will pack a lunch and use my knife to cut an apple or something. truth be known, I just really like having a nice beefy knife.

So I have decided to carry a fruit cutter in my pocket and either my 350 or my 560 in a horizontal belt nylon sheath. I could get by, just carrying one knife but don't want to cut food with a knife I use to open packages or cut "stuff" with.

What two knives do you carry and why?

I carry 4......a zt 0350 (soon to be replaced by a sebenza) for my usual cutting, a victorinox tinker for a knife that I can use where the big folder would be inappropriate (such as church) and a leatherman for whenever I need the tools. I also carry a german made eye brand serpentine stockman just because I can.

When I did carry multiple knives it was for multiple purposes. I would have one large folder for hard use tasks and a one smaller for use around sheeple and food.

I eventually came to the conclusion that I don't need a "hard use" knife, those tasks simply don't come along often enough to warrant the extra space needed.(as they say, work smarter, not harder) Basically ended up with a good traditional knife, a couple blades packed in, suited for the task at hand.

As a man wiser then myself once said "It doesn't need to be big, just sharp"

EDIT: I still carry a LM Micra for tools, don't really use the knife it has.

Yes I do. I carry a Spyderco Balance in my shirt pocket, a Spyderco Pacific in my right pocket. A fixed blade in my laptop back pack, and also a dragonfly in zdp 189. If you ask why? I will say why not?

I'll usually carry two or three. A large folder for heavier cutting tasks, a smaller knife for more delicate cutting and a Leatherman juice (mostly for the tools, though). Just remembered I have a Leatherman Micra on my keychain, as well. The Micra's scissors and tweezers are extremely handy.

On me I rotate between ZT0350 or mini grip in my front left pocket. Front right my LM Skeletool. Back Boker Nano Plus clipped to my wallet. And a VIC MiniChamp on my keychain. In the bag is ZT0350 or mini grip (again depending what on me), a beater Kershaw Nerve, and a LM Wave.

I currently carry a Benchmade Barrage in my front right pocket, and a HEST DPx 2.0 in my left back pocket. Becker Patrol Machete stays in the truck.
I use the knife most suited to the job. I cut stuff everyday where I work. Plus if I dull one down I still have a hair shaving sharp extra blade ready to go.

Also I throw in a 9mm .40 cal .45 or the king 10mm, I need a North American Arms .22 Mag for pocket carry. :)

I have to wonder you said you will NEVER use a knife for self defense.... this confuses me are you saying that if your life was in danger (which you wont know when this will happen it will be spontaneous) you would not use one of your knives to survive?

I usually carry two but if I'm in the mood I'll carry three.

Hinderer xm18 3.5' and Spyderco Sage 2.

always. a small folder to keep folks from freaking when i gotta do something that doesnt require much of a knife, and either a fixed blade or larger folder for the bigger chores

I only carry one depending on what i'm doing day as to which, but I always have a multi tool on my keychain(ps4) and a larger in my vehicle if ever needed.

I always carry a Sak in my LFP and a folder in my RFP
Left: Super Tinker most often, Alox Soldier, Alox Cadet
Right: Top four current favorites- ZT 560, Manix 2 XL, Benchmade 810, Spyderco Para 2

That way I don't have to use my knife for something it wasn't meant for (screw driver, awl, scraper, prying, etc) but if I need more long term edge retention I have something better than the SAK blade.

Two..Spyderco Endura4 in right back pocket...Buck solo in front left pocket..Also have a small baby SAK attached to my keychain clipped on my belt so technically..Three.

I typically carry 3 plus blades. A larger blade, an edc, a small fixed blade and if I am out and about my diaper bag always has pretty much the same system in it plus a larger fixed blade. Do I always need this? No, but I carry knives for many different reasons and one of those reasons is I AM A BLADE ADDICT!!! I really do not think there is anything wrong with carrying a couple blades just because you like them! My system is that I will always have a sharp blade and I have a blade for different situations. Right now things are loaded out like this. On my person: XL voyager, Rat 1, BK11. In my daddy/diaper bag: Recon 1 tanto, Leek, CRKT bear claw, and a BK-2. I know this is a lot, but this is what obsession gets you.

Great responses, thanks and keep it going.

Sgtcuts, I may have overstated by saying I would NEVER use a knife defensively or offensively. After four years in the Marines including a year in Vietnam where I frequently engaged with enemy combatants and 32 years with LAPD (now retired), I can tell you from experience, in a survival situation there is no fair, no worries of what's legal or proper, no rules other than to stay alive. So if all I had was a knife, of course I would use it and be happy I had it. But realistically, that will almost never happen to most ordinary people who do not seek out danger, like police officers and soldiers. Common sense is the weapon of choice. Most violent encounters do not happen like explosions. There is almost always an escalation where you can evaluate self defense options or de-escalate. In most cases, a knife is the worst option. A very good tool for civilians is a key chain or pocket baton or mace, but I don't like carrying chemicals for obvious reasons. The environment almost always offers better choices. A rock a baseball bat, whatever you can get your hands on. If you are really concerned, take some self defense classes and keep your body strong and healthy. You can do a lot of damage with just your hands and feet if you can keep your cool and fall back on training.

Anyway I went on too long here. Carry your knives for enjoyment or utility, but (with rare exception) not for defense.

Exactly what I was hunting around I also had no idea of you extensive LEO/Military background good luck on your quest to collect
