Do you carry separate food knife?

The pizza I bought for lunch wasn't cut all the way through. Naturally I whipped out my folder and started cutting, only to belatedly remember that I used the exact same knife to scrape label off a less-than-clean can yesterday and I didn't even wipe it too clean.

Either I need to remember to wash the knife with soap after every use, or I need a separate blade just for food.

So, do you have 2 separate blades (one for food and the other for general use), wash after every use, or just don't care?

I keep a SAK at work, mainly for the can opener, but I also reserve it's main blade for food use. Everywhere else, I just try to rinse of whatever knife I am carying before use on food. Sometimes I forget, as you did, to rinse knife, but it hasn't killed me yet.

Nope. My immune system is stronger because i do not fret about such things. i am used to it.

Why yes, yes I do.

Seriously? No, no I don't.

One knife, quickly rinsed and dried after use (if it needs it), does the trick for me.

I do the same, the main blade on my SAK is for food, the little secondary blade is for light cutting jobs on fairly "clean" materials (tape, paper, plastic packages...) and my multitool's blade -or a stronger folder if needed- for everything else...

The main blade on my stockman is used for mainly food prep, sheepsfoot blade is used for utility, and the spey blade is used as a backup. I will also carry a 1 hand opener(spyderco tenacious atm) which does both food prep and utility tasks for when I'm too lazy to use 2 hands to open a knife which I usually am.

I don't "carry" two, but I leave a Marjaq folder ( like an Opinel) on my desk for food only.

My EDC cuts everything else... I brought the extra knife to work last year after I cut my sandwich at lunch and then remembered I had cut worms while fishing the day before.

I keep an Opinel No. 8 Carbon in my bag that I use for food. If I don't have my Opinel with me, I'll use my Izula. I always wipe my blades down when I'm done using them, so even if it isn't washed it's "clean enough"!

I usually just use my folder I have on me. I use it on anything that needs cut. Come to think of it I really don't clean it off enough after using it on something completely unsanitary

Mostly just use what's on me. However, If anticipated, I will carry my Case Hobo. Works great AND it's classy, too!

My thoughts, exactly.:D

Okay, I do wipe it down after something particularly nasty.

Usually I spend more time cleaning my knife AFTER using it on food.:p

If water is available, I will rinse and dry the blade. If no water is handy, a few strops on the pant leg has always worked for me.
