Do you carry tip up or down in your pocket?

I personally carry tip down right now because its the only option on my present knives. How do you guys carry? I've read that some people got cut with tip up. Any bad experiences with tip up and with what particular knives?

I carry tip down with my Spyderco Police. The spine of the blade can be held onto, and the handle flicked down into the palm.

I prefer tip up, though, because it positions the knife for more normal one-handed opening with less manipulation.

for me it depends on the knife. i will carry it which ever way it is more comfortable. some of my knives have sharp edges if carried tip down like my tenacious so i switched it to tip up. problem solved!,,,VWB.

Depends on if the knife gives me the option. If I can choose I generally carry tip up because it takes less motion to open and position normally in the hand.

With waved knives, tip-up is the only way to make the wave feature work.

Both, as I carry more than one knife. Practise is how you get good at opening the blade fast and smooth anyway.

Ive never been poked going tip up. If I did and it was my fault, well then I deserved it. If I did and it was the knife's fault, I would take the clip off and never carry it on me again. EVER. A well designed knife will NEVER hurt its user under any but the most rediculous circumstances, even under hard use, the knife should fail in a way that doesnt hurt it's user.

I always carry tip-down because I prefer to conceal my knives inside the waist-band (which attracts much less attention than when carried in an exposed pocket). However, I will carry tip-up if the knife gives me no other option (Emerson Knives, for example).

Tip up is no doubt superior in theory, but not every knife will reliably stay closed in the pocket, especially if subjected to running and jumping. We can send a man to the moon, but we (well, some) can't make a tip up knife stay closed...

its all in the detent or better yet, a closed lock and/or safety.

Depends on how the knife carries. By that I mean that, even if the knife allows either tip up or tip down, I'll try both ways to see which feels best to me on that particular knife. A second issue is I am more concerned about a low profile in the pocket than about whether the tip is up or down. I use a knife as a tool, not a weapon, so speed of deployment is completely unimportant to me. All I need is the ability to get my hand on the knife and get it open.
