My spreadsheet is helpful to me personally on some occasions but I could get by without it too.I’m not trying to be snarky, but why is a spread sheet necessary?
When I am working on a set, I take a picture on my phone so I can quickly see what is missing.
To document what I paid? Does it even matter? I pay as little as possible, and would sell for whatever I can get.
To document the construction details? I can pick up any knife and tell you everything you need to know about it.
My sister was a record keeper, she documented everything she did. She enjoyed it. It was part of the hobby to her. So I completely understand that side of it. But it seems like work to me.
Some people like to keep a score card updated while they watch a ball game. I just want to watch a ball game
I don't consider it necessary, just helpful. For another brand with lots of variety in models and steels, I wanted to try the differences to figure out what I liked. A spreadsheet makes it easy to check if I've ever tried something or not. Even though I have slightly less Bucks than that other brand and more are duplicates of a model, most are buried in some sheath and often in the little bag within the sheath. That makes it more time consuming to check what specific variation I have while the spreadsheet makes it much easier.I’m not trying to be snarky, but why is a spread sheet necessary?
