Do you check a bag just so you can have a knife?

I'd check a bag for a knife. If This was impossible, I would go to wal mart and buy a $20 vapor. I have flown with knives on southwest and have never had a problem (obviously in my luggage post 9/11). I would never travel with an expensive blade, when you can pick up a spydie for 50 bucks, and if it's stolen, or lost, at least you're not out a Sebenza..

Colleague of mine just got back from a trip and took her Swiss Army knife in her carry on and no one said anything. They did ask her about her tweezers, though!

Howdy,

My husband flew to Georgia over the weekend and they cut the lock off of his bag on the way there. On the way back, they lost his luggage. I thought he lost his knife, but they later found his luggage and delivered it to our house. Travelling is just getting better and better.

Scince the feds have increased the alert level, they're going to be checking your bags more thouroughly, so if you do check a bag, pack your stuff in clear plastic bags, so that the guys searching won't be getting the pottato chips they've been eating all in your stuff.;)

Yeah, I feel nekkid w/o any knife at all. Its just too useful to be without. On my last trip, i checked my carry on and pulled out a book so I could get home the three knives I'd bought while on vacation... Yeah, I need one at both ends of a flight.
