Do You Clean Your Ceramic Rods .... If So How?

There are many ways to clean ceramic rods or stones.

I use a pencil eraser, too. That should do the job quite well and remove most of the metal. From time to time I use a powdered scouring agent, too. I think it is Ata (BKF is expensive in my country). A nylon hand brush is what I use. A Scotch Brite Pad will work, too. Or a toothbrush.
You could even use toothpaste. Dish detergent might also work (works good with Fällkniven's ceramic). With Spyderco or Lansky I prefer the pencil eraser + scouring agent.
I haven't tried the following ones: Lansky or A.G. Russell Eraser Block. Mr Clean Magic Eraser.

A Scotch Brite Pad will work, too.
I don't recommend this. The standard Scotch Brite pads use aluminum oxide for an abrasive, and this will polish/glaze the rod with enough use. Retexturing a rod isn't going to be as simple as lapping a flat stone. A pumice-based pencil eraser is a safer choice in my opinion.

Pencil eraser after each use of the rods. If you do this from the start, you'll possibly never need anything more.

For long-neglected rods, soaking them in a mix of Bar Keepers Friend powder and water for awhile will loosen up and/or dissolve a lot of embedded swarf. Then additional scrubbing with the BKF as needed, for anything remaining.

Bar Keepers Friend with a green scouring pad. Powder works a bit better the the liquid. Never a problem doing this in the sink. Not messy like other ways.
