Do you deer hunters carry a daypack?

I carry more than I should because I snack a lot and get the munchies all the time and I carry a lot of water with me for coffee and flavored drink. Take my 4 wheeler as far as I want then I hoof it from there.
But the I cover a couple of miles to my stand and then come back and get my truck to pick up my game as it is easier than carrying it on the 4 wheeler and I still get the munchies on the way back. Unit 'L' offers you a lot of Deer each and every year.

If I plan on hunting alone in the mountains, I use a Camelbak TRIZIP.

Always.

Opening day is Friday!!!!!!!!! :)
great gun. had one like it as a kid. I picked up a used one over the summer and have been slowly refinishing it with lynnseed oil and beeswax. it should be ready for this season. I hope it has time to air out!

I usually just carry a water bottle, a baggie with some TP, a Cliff bar or two.

If I am going to be out longer than a morning/evening hunt, I'll take a day pack, with a lot more gear. Currently, my pack is a CamelBak MULE.

I carry a fanny pack every time. Has a FAK, drag rope, folding saw, extra knives, knife sharpener, ammo, 2 extra screw in steps, 30' paracord for my lift rope to pull up rifle/bow, extra release if bow hunting, grunt tube, The Can, surveyors tape, 2 pair gloves for field dressing, 2 gallon zip locks, attractant, cover spray, snacks, PSK, and usually a paperback book. Sounds like a lot of stuff, but it all fits in a fanny/waist pack.

Camelbak trizip - ROM 2000 CI. I always have
Fire steel + fire kit
Uh OOOO kit
Para cord
2 Bottles of water
Binos
Spotting scope
Range Finder
Headlamp
back up light
Compass
Box of shells
Tarp
Grunt calls
Meds
SNACKS - tons of pbj crackers
gloves
hat
scarf
extra jacket/rain jacket
half roll of TP smashed and stuffed in a waterproof bag to use as a gun rest

Success this weekend!!

It's the last day of the first gun season. I didn't get to spend any time in the woods yesterday, like I planned. It's a long story. Lets just say I spent all day fence building.

This morning I got this little buck. I know he is not a monster but the freezer is empty. And it's my first completely solo hunt on new property to me. I've always hunted with buddies who had much experience and on established ground. It's quite different when you are alone, there is a lot more to every step......which reminds me. Time to roll up the sleeves and get dirty. Come on Bushfinger, you are getting dirty too.

Congrats on the venison for the freezer!

Forgot on my orginal list but I also pack a headlamp and mountain money (TP).

Thanks Mr Culberson! We got more meat for the freezer than I expected. (I typically only hunt the antlerless season so I'm used to only processing does) the roasts off this guy were huge!

And thank you for the suggestions on a pack. I'll be adjusting the contents of my GHB, which is always in back of my seat, for future adventures.
