Do you display your knives at home?

If so, how so? Care to share a pic or two?

I'm looking for ideas on how to maybe get some of the collection out to enjoy, just for the simple beauty intrinsic in a good blade. Maybe a wall mount? We do have a glass front gun cabinet that only holds an old Masonic sword and a pair of BB guns... any creative thoughts?

P.s. It has to be classy or it won't pass the design committee, so no large scale dioramas of cavemen in mock battle or anything

I don't have any knives for show. Mine are all users. Even I had some nice show knives, I think I'd be scared to show them off. Almost like hanging a sign saying "steal me"

Yeah, I know there's insurance, but money can't always replace something special to you.

You can buy some nice glass or plexiglass display cases such as commonly seen at gunshows for display on a coffee table or suspect you could secure the knives and hang the whole case on the wall sort of like a shadow box.

I don't display my knives or firearms. Most people would never know I own any knives other than the SAK in my pocket.

not any more i had a bunch stolen years ago and some were not replaceable.

now they stay in the safe or are in use.

I'm of the low profile school of thought, also. I don't show my knives off, and although some people know I collect knives, how many and where they are isn't advertised. I've had too many fairly nice but realitively inexpensive things in my life disappear into thin air...as well as items I could never replace.

I would like to, but as I'm sure many of us here, our design committee vetoed the idea

I take pictures when they're new and make a slideshow for a screen saver.

A while back, I stumbled upon this YouTube vid made by a gentleman with an interesting way to display some of his impressive collection...

Not all together but if you were to open any drawer in my house you would most likely find a sweet piece of cutlery !!!

Not enough room here for displays, but if they want to look they need not look any further than what is hanging from my belt.

I have my EDC knives on top of my dresser, some slipjoints in a display box/house on the wall, 2 ulus on the stove and 3 stands in the basement. Should be able to build a knife collection room in the house I should be buying next month.

I have a lot of mine in locked display cases on my wall in my room. I dont have to worry about scaring people because if they go in my bedroom chances are I know them really well. We also have next to no crime beyond stealing beer from unlocked garrages around where I live so i dont worry too much about them getting stolen.

Well here's what I came up with- repurposed my old glass fronted gun cabinet for a display life again.

and todays project

I don't display any in a case, but I do kinda decorate my living room and bedroom with the ones in the current EDC rotation. I keep at least 10 folders and 4 fixed blades out of the safe at all times. I keep several set up on my entertainment center(and even match the micarta's to the candles and center channel speaker:o), a couple on the mantle, my bookshelf, and my nightstand(yeah, I'm single).

It does take me a few every morning to decide which I'll carry that day.

Well, I no longer let strange people into my home so I'm not trying to hide anything. And I have too many knives to make the claim of using them all. I do enjoy displaying and looking at them so I have knives in display cases, knives in desk organizers, and a whole room (my "man" room) dedicated to my collectables with swords hung on the walls and displayed all around.

....Don't have many pics on hand right now, but I do have a pic of this lockable display case with pull out felt lined drawers...

Now that I have a couple young children in the house I am looking for ways to keep knives out of little hands while still having them displayed and easy for me to get to. Hence the locking case, and a lock on my "man room".

It's hard to enjoy something that's hidden away in a safe. IMHO I guess if you live in a bad neighborhood, or let criminal types into your home, I guess it makes sense. I think I would rather invest in a good house alarm though.

cool idea elkhills. Pretty easy to find glass gun cabinets these days. almost nobody uses them for guns anymore as easy as they are to break into.

bryfry, how long have you kept your knives in that pictured cabinet? Has the felt left any color on the knives? Any concerns with this type of enclosure?

I display them on the counter tops, the dressers, bathroom counters, tables... they're users and where ever I dump my pockets is where they stay till I pick 'em up again.
