and love it as it is sort of like a bail. (live in Ca so this is as close as I am going to get) so any one else EDC a sharpener?

No, but I want to thank you for being one of the first new guys to post something original. LOL I like that sharpener. I may get something like that if they make it with industrial diamonds. Keep up the good posts.

I don't EDC my sharpeners, but I do forward position them. I have an extensive set in a drawer in my office and I have given hones to numerous friends and members of the family. I usually find sharpeners where I am going. I do pack an Eze-fold in my suitcase.

I EDC a Gerber collapsable hone. $5.99 at Walmart. (Not sure if they still carry them)

It is a diamond sharpener, round, with one side milled flat, and when collapsed, it is no bigger than a good pen.

I don't but if you have room in your pockets I'd say its not a bad idea. I usually just EDC 2 knives, a gentlemans folder for light cutting and something a little more suited for hard use. Nice thread though, i'm interested in seeing the stats.

Not a sharpener, but I do keep my leatherman XTi in my backpack, and the diamond file can be used to sharpen in a pinch.

I work a 12 hour shift, & I usually try & keep one of my SharpMakers with me at all times. (I end up sharpening knives for guys on my shift).

I've had a gerber honing steel in my truck and one in my desk since the late seventies. Gerber quit making them back in 1992 and just recently started producing them again.

The sportsman steel is great for quick blade touch-ups and the leather sheath makes a very handy strop. Best of all the end of the hone is chisel shaped so it makes an excellent prybar - no more prying with your knife blades. :D (a great buy at around 15 bucks)

Nope, but if I ever had to touch up a knife on the road the edge of a car window works, as well as the underside of a toilet lid. Serious.

But, for the most part, a bit of a strop on my jeans does the trick.

I keep in my wallet one of the 2 small stems of a Lansky sharpener. It's easy to touch up the edge with.

I on occasion will carry one of those EZE-lap sharpeners as shown in the first post if I think that I'll need it that day, or if going to lunch with some friends that carry knives daily but have no clue how to sharpen them (you boys would NOT BELIEVE how dull these knives are, yet they continue to happily use them!) They appreciate the free sharpening service, and yes, I probably do get a few looks from other patrons in the restaurant.

Mine is oval in cross section, and has abrasive on both sides. (USAFSP, these are diamond coated, by the way.) That way I can sharpen recurved blades as well.

I strop on the go.

I'll use my jeans, or a good shop rag in the hand an strop away.

I usually never let mine get near dull before i strop, even during cutting something, i may strop it a bit on the jeans.

ya, the one I have is the same as troll bait from hell. I am going to sharpen the carving knifes for thanksgiving and wanted to know if any one else was going to do it. that is why I asked.
