Photos Do you even survival??

Ok, I know only 1 blade was asked for but I am a knife enthusiast so I cannot help myself, 2 pieces of 3V goodness. I would not feel naked with this combination.
What’s that little one?? Looks familiar but I can’t place it…
I have a lot of knives that fit the bill, and I'd be comfortable with any of them...but since there's two in this image...I'll just go with either...especially since they're essentially bulletproof.

Wow the one on the bottom is nice! I don’t think I’ve seen one quite like that. The guard seems more pronounced which I like - is that one a full custom or is it a regular model?

scdub scdub The HDFK is one I purchased from Tony who offered it to me on the CPK forum. Other than his ironwood scales, I don't think that there is anything unique, or if there is, I'm unaware.

The Signature Series SDFK is from an offering on the CPK forum a month or three back.

I’m not sure what qualifies as a survival knife and I don’t have too many fixed blades in my collection at the moment but if I’m headed to the outdoors 10 times out of 10 I will have thing hanging around my neck. I absolutely love this knife dearly.

CRK Professional Soldier, one of the early production versions in S30V from what I’m told.

It’s a Dawson knives handyman, 3V and they do their own heat treatment. It’s a very useful size

I’m choosing my Bark River Shining Mountain Bowie. It can clear lowhanging limbs almost as well as a chainsaw, and it outchops every big knife that I own. I can get my trailer overflowing with branches in well under an hour with it. I’ve also found it to be capable at batoning, feathersticking, making stakes, and even using it as a draw knife.

The edge retention is better than most of my 3V knives. It’s a little heavy at just over 26 oz, but I’m used to it after carrying my 33 oz Svörd VTB for a while.

It seems to be quite corrosion resistant, as I never oil it, and it only gets slightly stained, though it does stain more than 3V.

I’ve given this topic way too much thought, but I am certain there will be a zombie apocalypse in my lifetime, so who will be laughing them? For me, it’s the Busse TGULB. Super sturdy, easy steel to sharpen, the shallow hollow grind is still tough but should not thicken the edge too much with sharpening, and it just looks cool and ready for the end of the world. It’s a versatile knife: not great for any one think but serviceable for most things. Busses’s warranty still applies in the case of an apocalypse, right?

My RW. Old one was thin cut SR101 but now I'm rolling with an infiweiler. The SR101 got a lot of use before the opportunity for an infiweiler presented itself.

By this time I had the infiweiler. Only one of the group I still have after selling off many blades over the past few years.

Which Busse model is the orange handled one in your second pic? Steelheart?

That was the nano fusion forsaken steel heart, or something close to that. I thought that was going to replace the RW when I got it but the handle was too slim and I disliked it for chopping. It became eye candy after a while of testing. The RW handle is superb, for me.

I've got a Ratweiler was just curious. Thanks,

The nano steel heart looked amazing in pics and on paper, but I couldn't grow to like the handle for that knife. It was good for more standard tasks but the pinky hook killed me on the heavier tasks. I imagine for the shorter blades like the badger attack, it was a great handle.

I have the same thoughts on the big Becker handle, I didn't like it on the 9, really didn't like it on the 21, but feels good on the 2 and 5. I should get a 10 eventually.

Come on guys, what's a survivalin' thread without hollow handle knives?

This is how you survivalize!

Sam

How many twinkies can I fit in there? Compressed and straight from the box, LOL.

Does the 2nd one have a sharpened clip? Neat looking knafs. Not sure what it is, but the green wrap handle really looks the business.

I vacuum seal the twinkies, for maximum storage.👌👌

No, I sharpen the clip at the customer's request. That one went to a country where they cannot have them.⚔️⚔️

And thank you!😎😎

I've had this sheepsfoot machete (seen top of picture) for over 30 years and it's served me well in the bush. More than one person has tried to use it backwards, because the design is less than common in these parts. I still have the tattered sheath made for me by a girl, when I was at high school, and she was taking textile classes. My best friend in high school nick-named it Freddy the Machete, after I bought it at a local hardware store for around $20. Even at the time it felt like a great deal, given most machetes readily available back then were those thin cheap metal pieces of garbage that weren't up to doing much. I put bandage wrapping around the handle and covered that with hockey tape, to give it a more squeezable grip than the wooden scales, which also takes some of the hand shock out of prolonged use.
