I used to get tired of them, but now I enjoy them. The choices usually involve completely different knives, and reflect the ambivalence of the buyer. They usually don't know what features will do to alter the performance of the knife, what they will do with it, or why they want another knife.
Seb or SnG, Leek or Griptillian, it's all about the buyer having disposable income and wanting approval from his peer group. After a decade or two, a couple of hundred knives, and resale of pennies on the dollar, it sinks in that it was a nice expensive hobby, but one or two good knives could have done the same - and said a lot more about them.
I enjoy the threads - almost never read them - because it keeps the industry going, just like AAA rated subprime mortgages kept the housing industry going. And as long as there are young guys, it will keep on going so I can retire and sell them my knives.
