Do you find knife collecting addictive?

I think it can be and I will share with this Forum a little poem I wrote and posted on some Facebook knife collector pages. It captures my sentiment toward collecting knives.

I don't do dope
Or gamble or smoke -
No addictive behavior for me.
But can I cope
Without going broke?
'Cause I need every knife I can see.

I know what your saying, Buck Fever is a bad thing. I have been collecting knives from the time I was a young kid. When I turned 18 and could start buying guns I stopped buying knives. In 2005 I started buying knives again and the focus was Buck knives. I know have close to 700 of them in my small pile. Yes I am a Buckaholic!

It's a conspiracy, I tells ya. I joined this forum a scant two months ago, owning only 3 Buck knives. I now count it at 16, with two more in shipping limbo. I decided this year to spend my annual gun budget on knives. I *might* have gone over just a bit. I don't regret it.

My Brother David kinda bribed me with a Elephant Ivory Damascus 112 and scrimed it so I would ride along with him to the Blade Show in 2007...I first liked the people especially in the BCCI and then got addicted to searching, buying and researching the 112. Over 100 112's later I still like them A LOT but don't buy every one I like or want. If my leg and heart had not gotten worse I would still display..

for me it's not, because like with most of my hobbies I am very picky with a pretty narrow field of interest and I'm more accumulating more than truly collecting.
even if I'm not really planning to use something there usually has to be something very practical / functional that I appreciate about it, and I have to know I'd like using it if I ever decided to.

With knives I only like traditional knives, no " super steels, and no Taiwan Pakistan or China..
As far as Buck goes they're not doing much lately that interests me, mostly more modern knives and special runs in fancy steels.
My favorite model is the 305 which I sort of collect, but I'm pretty much down to 3 versions I know of that I'm still looking for plus 2 I'd like better examples of than I have.

I think I've only bought 2 knives so far this year which should suggest that I'm not addicted to buying knives, but maybe that's just because of how picky I am ?

Sold most of my knives a couple of years ago, now it's all about knives I consider users/tools.

Just had a mild interest until I joined the forum. So many mouth watering pics of knives I was not aware of! So many for different uses including safe queens too nice to use. Got me hooked. Hell I was down to just a 66 made Puma Skinner and one Buck folder. Learned a lot here about quality versus quantity when collecting or accumulating.
