Do you find knife collecting addictive?

When KathyJo used to fuss about the time and money I spent on 112's I told her I bought right AND carefully and that they were basically a 401-Buck kinda way to save. She eventually agreed but still put me in Buck Jail a few times..What really counted was she seen I enjoyed the whole process.
I came up with a line a few years back that sums it up nicely. "There is no cure for Buck Fever but fortunately we can treat the symptoms "..

I'm 58 and feeling the reality of downsizing as a necessity. I am a lot more thoughtful and deliberate when purchasing anything new that is not a consumable necessity and I've been selling things and giving them away as gifts for a few years now. I have a long, Long, LONG way to go, though. Given that realization, I still realize that I really, Really, REALLY want more knives even though I have the competing thoughts in my head about reducing. It's a battle!

For SO many years my Buck budget was totally devoted to 112's..Now it's really difficult to go to Altanta or Lakeland for the Gator Show and especially display the collection so I'm looking at things like the Fro and other odd Bucks..Heck I even just bought a 110..

I'm 67 years old. I've been acquiring knives for about 10-12 years. I have been actively collecting for just over a year and I'm just about done getting the knives I want in my collection. There may be odd ones in the future I have no idea. The basic idea for me was getting the knives that were on display in the Buck counter top display case I put nose prints on when I was 10. I suspect I will be done with my collection easily by the end of the year. I'm guessing I have 100-125 knives.

It is interesting how a lot of our adult pursuits relate back to childhood. I never had any knives as a child, so as an old man, I am suffering from severe deprivation that is only allayed by said knives. My son spent part of this childhood with his best friend, the N64 video console. So now, as a very young adult, he is amassing an impressive collection of MIB N64 video game cartridges. On his lastest move, he didn't let me bring in the boxes (or even touch) the boxes that contained his venerable cargo.
