Do you guys sharpen your twist drills?

Also realize that you can customize the cutting performance for different materials by adjusting the rake , clearance angle ,etc...

Yes Ernest, I thought that it would actually be easier on the belt grinder but maybe not. Not sure how I would go about reducing the chisel point but I'll look into that if/when I get the hang of the basic grinding. Same thing with adjusting the cutting performance Eric.

Thanks guys.

I have seen it suggested that a belt is inferior to a stone wheel for drill grinding. I've used all three though. Had a fine grit on my disc and polished the cutting edge with it.

Reducing the chisel, essentially you remove some material from the curved back edge. Only tried it once myself, still learning too. Looks like you can't do a real 4 facet split by hand very easily.

Re sets and single drills. Everybody needs one good set/falls for the 'value' argument once. But most of people I know end up with many cheap sets with the common sizes worn out. As a knife maker you probably use the the same pin hole size frequently. So you might be better buying a cobalt/cardide drill and reamer rather than a large set which you only use 5% of.
