Do you have a favorite pattern ?

As long as it isn't too thick or too long as to cause excess bulk in my pocket I'll carry it.
And it has to have a clip main or single clip.

I have always carried a Stockman. Back in the '70's when everyone was carrying Buck 110's, I tried those, but, I found them a bit too heavy for my taste, and stayed with the Stockman pattern. I still like them.
I picked up a Case Sway Back Jack- carbon steel, bareheaded with chestnut covers. That is one elegant knife. I can't wait to get my hands on a GEC #47 swayback, but I wish they were a bit smaller. I may have to pony up and get a Otha sway back jack knife.

For me it's the full size Trapper. It's small enough for EDC and large enough for most cutting tasks. I like that there are two different style blades of equal length. It's capable of skinning small game and if necessary deer. I own several knives, but the trapper is always with me.

Kephart is my favorite.

If you count the number of knives of each pattern that I own, I have substantially more canoes than any other pattern. So, by that metric, canoes are my favorite pattern. I certainly like almost every feature of canoes: symmetric, equal-end shape; sunk joints due to the shape of the bolsters; smooth profile from the curve of the spearpoint main; 2 blades; spearpoint is probably my favorite blade shape; 3.625" length is about ideal for me; available in a vast range of covers.

But my first knife, and essentially my only pocket knife until 3.5 years ago, was a scout/camp knife, and I still feel a very strong attraction to that pattern (or family of patterns?), especially SAKs. I have quite a few SAKs, as well as a couple of traditional American scout knives (including my original Colonial Forest-Master), and carry at least one every day; this pattern probably holds second place in terms of how many examples I have. I like the idea of a "pocket toolkit", with tools besides knife blades included in the package; the size of most "full-size" camp knives is also in my sweet spot for length; I like a knife with a bail I can attach to my belt/beltloop with a lanyard.

Finally, I'll mention that I'd be sad to give up carrying a stockman every day. I think the 3 blade shapes make it a very versatile knife. I'm especially drawn to the shape of the sowbelly stockman, but a medium stockman with (almost) sunk joints, round bolsters, a low-riding sheepsfoot, and a slender (Turkish? California? muskrat?) clip really floats my boat too!

If I could only have one pocketknife, guess it would be a stockman/cattle knife. Probably because that's what I grew up seeing the men around me carry.

GEC single clips on 15 frame.

This has certainly been brought up and I am late to the party, but I have never noticed the difference in the long pull on the new and older TC barlows. The newer long pulls are certainly bigger and pronounced and dive into the tang further than the older TCs. I looked around and some of the new almost seem as though it is a mistake in how far the long pulls go into the tang.

Sorry again if this is old news. The pic just shows a great example.

^^ not much of a difference but different. Think I read that it's more difficult to go all the way to the tang. Showing off Cutlery skills or something

Small to medium 2-blade Congress, love cotton samplers(too heavy to carry) edc is Kershaw Scallion, Gerber ultralite LST or Victorinox w/cap lifter.

Olive handle on Puuko is nice, gotter luv the otter!

On the puukko, Danijel Haramina bills it as stabilized locust. I'm certain that's right as it feels and looks rather different from olive I've handled before. But this pic does give the impression of olive.

I'd love to put an olive handle on a Mora Robust!

The Otter Mercator has been in heavy rotation. I was in the mountains two weeks ago and swapped it out for the SAK OHO Trekker for all its tools, but I was happy to pick up the Mercator when I got home. I like it in the watch pocket of my carpenter's jeans and attached by a chain either to my belt loop or to a screwdriver-like prying tool (a Mosin Nagant sight adjustment tool is a nice pairing).

My favorite pattern is the copperhead; I've got 3 Queens, a Kissing Crane, 2 Bulldogs, a Boker and a Henkels. They're sort of a miniature folding hunter, and I've always liked those, although they're a bit large and heavy for an everyday use pocketknife. The 3 Queens are all single bladed in D2, the others are two bladers.

I have to wear dress pants to work, so my favorite pattern is the Case 6103. Its long enough to not be a toy, but is very thin. Half stops are solid and I prefer the wharncliffe blade option. Fridays and weekends find me with a 63090, 63032, 6347 stockman or lately, I'm digging the muskrat with ratcliffe mod in my pocket...
