Do you have a goal?

My 110’s are users. But I have plenty. Same thing goes for 212’s.

My first goal was a complete set of 100 series sheath knives. Mostly because I don’t have a brick and mortar store near me to fondle them all. So I wanted the whole set, so I could pick whichever one suited the task at hand. Plus my nephews and kids could see which one they liked in person instead of from a picture. Basically I bought ever knife I was remotely interested in, so I could have my own brick and mortar store.

Then I found the elusive Caper in Cherrywood and Stag. Which led to my putting together a complete set of both, Then I bought the smooth bone set from BassPro before they were discontinued.

So long story short. I’m done unless they release another model I like that has Cherry wood, Stag, Phenolic, or smooth bone.

No goal, yet. I found my way here on a G00gle search and ended up meeting some great new friends. In these past 9 months of Buck collecting I have amassed about 3 or 4 dozen knives. From the 300-series up through various 110 and 112's, 100-series fixed blades, Vantages, a couple of BOTM keepers and an LE.

Basically I purchase what interests me, what I will likely carry and is within my budget. In the coming years I hope to acquire a few more of the rarities. Right now though, my sights are mostly on the 110 and 112's although I have a GCK on the way.

You fellas are an amazing group but jeepers, what a bunch of enablers! :D

I'm afraid to count my collection...BUT even more afraid that my wife counts it ‍♂️

My problem is the Bucks I think just look cool ..and I want to play with them. First time was the 651 Pig Sticker a long time ago. Lately it's the Talon. I'm not going in the woods to clear any brush or trim trees any time soon and I wood feel a little silly walking around the house with one on my belt, even with one of Mike's great shieths .
Like there’s any other way to walk around the house.

I'm not sure of where I'm heading yet, I've got a lot to learn to be able to form my collecting goals, and as the NFL coach John Madden used to tell his rookies, "Before the learning can start, you gotta know what you don't know".

So in the meantime, I'll do some catching up buying, getting the various models of Buck knives that I've wanted over the years, but just never got around to pulling the trigger on them... such as the Kalinga I just ordered.

In the past 20 years, I was busy pursing my addiction to Smith & Wesson handguns. I've hit all but a scant few of my goals in that arena of collecting/accumulating S&W's, filling two gun safes. Plus the draconian handgun laws in California have made it very difficult for me to continue, it's become way too expensive the way prices have skyrocketed, and it's no longer an enjoyable endeavor.

I've been retired for 2 years and getting bored stiff.

I've found my way back to Buck's, re-discovered this forum, signed up as a BCCI member and signed up as a Pro on the Buck Knife website... if the "enablers" here are anything like the ones on the Smith & Wesson forum, I'm going to be in deep dog poo (again) before too long with the Wife, and hopefully having some fun along the way in doing so. :D

This, my friend, is the best goal in the thread...
I have met that goal not from the custom shop but from SKbaldes the 501 Goodfella. The cpm154 blade and burlap micarta makes for a sweet looking gents knife that performs very nice. I first got one to try and found I really liked it, then there was a sale and I got another one thinking my son would like it. At the time he had a lot going on and was focusing on other things but that changed when covid shut down the entertainment industry and he moved back here to help his mother my ex on the farm. Sadly she became very sick with pancreatic cancer and passed July 1st. Now he is taking care of the farm and ranch feeding cattle baling hay and needed a knife. I showed him the 501 Goodfella and he said sweet! He gas been using it and loves it. I also gave him my 110 slim pro for the bigger tasks and he likes it very well too. He might just come around to getting some other Bucks. Lol

I'm sorry for your family's loss man. Hopefully your son is in a good place working the farm. I'm a big fan of the Goodfella and wish I got at least one more when I had the chance. You'll have to work on putting an ebony 110 on his belt someday

Thanks for the kind words! It has been difficult but with God’s help we are able to carry on. I’m glad my son was willing to step up and take on the challenge of running and working the farm and ranch. With a cattle and a haying operation it is demanding especially in the winter and calving season. Summer can be brutal when rain doesn’t come.

With all that I also appreciate how he comes to help me when I need help and to just hang out and do things together. He is learning and enjoying the knives I gave him and learning how to sharpen and care for them. It’s really good to see him put in practice what I’ve taught him and to build on it. I’m sure proud of him!

I really like what bertl said about "focus" instead of "goal. As one who has been a "biker" most of my adult life I focused on all the Buck knives made for Harley Davidson and not just acquiring the knives, but learning the history behind them. There are still a number that I don't have but I am quite with what I do have. When I first ran into the BBCI and some of the deals that could be had through some of the members I didn't truly have a focus buying anything new, or anything that caught my eye. Then I started looking for the oddballs, factory goofs. Of course the 110's were always there. I stopped actively collecting for a while and the knives and cases sat. I ave several areas of focus these days, Harley, Alpha's, 110's... natural handle materials, and one of a kinds from various customizers. I will always enjoying seeing whatever other collectors post but I don't feel the need to keep up with everyone else these days.

Did you get one of the S45VN 110's about a month or two ago? I was tempted because as far as I know it is the only Buck of any kind made with it..
I did :thumbsup: I think I complained so much for missing out on the quick sale that one of our members reached out and sold me his. Very nice people here :)
