I see the new Manix is for sale now. Saw it at the NGK site.
For those of you who have one. What do you think of it?

The notes I read have the blade at 4". I didn't know it was to be that big of a knife. Not sure I want another folding knife with a 4" blade. I already have what I think is the best big knife in the Military. Most of my folders are in the 3 1/2" to 2 7/8" range.

I want one so bad I cant stand it. I saw that New Graham had some, but the plainedge ones are gone. :(

I would love for someone to post some good pics. That may help until I can get one.

I looked at NKG yesterday morning and saw the Manix -- I'm pretty sure that's when they were first posted on the site. They were gone by the afternoon. :(

I'll probably buy one locally anyway. It may take a couple of months -- but Christmas is coming! :)

I snatched two away from Newgraham's :D :D :D
Now they are on their way over the pond but the waiting ist terrible

I posted this thread with pictures and a mini review on the Spyderco factory forum Saturday, when mine arrived from NGK. Has some shots with other Spydercos so you can compare size. By my ruler, Manix blade is 3 13/16", while Chinook II is just a hair shorter at 3 3/4", same with closed length, Manix again is a hair longer, blade and overall thickess of the two are identical.

I wasn't too impressed by the protoype but the finished product is definetly on my must-have list. Sure it's heavier than a Military, but it is fully Ambi and just looks like a Big Folding Temperance.

A couple of questions . . .

Does it use those thin teflon washers?
Do the corners of the tang protrude much when the knife is closed?

Thanks! :)

real curious about the washers in real world use...

I cant pretend to know the answer, but doesn't the Military and other Spydercos use the same washers?

Teflon has been used for years in the agressive rollerskating industry to reinforce and increase the sliding/grinding capabilities of rollerblades on handrails and walls...
Believe me it's tough and it slides like butter! :D

The Mannix is "the" solution to a large-hard-wear folder.. Its built like a tank! Nice design too! Well done Eric! :D

Is the Manix a lever lockback or a compression lock?

A lockback. Patterned after the Chinook II so its good and strong. :)

I dont suppose you would have a shot of it open next to the 710 would you?
