do you have any info on the tigershark S5?

I'm supposed to stop buying knives, but I cam across a tigershark S5. this is not one of the new ones right?

any information would be appreciated.

The SK5 Tigersharks were the 1st generation, collectible and they make great users. One of my favorite camp knives. I say get it if you can and use it!!

if you are certain it is SK5 steel ..... buy it !!!! It will be old old old. Are there blade serrations .... if so, it is not SK5, I say that with good certainty. As best I know, all SK5's were non-serrated.

with that said, I am a huge huge fan of SOG's SK5 steel, they really got it right in terms of temper and all that metallurgical stuff that contributes to edge taking and edge holding etc etc.

and with that, even if is not SK5, and you can get a good price, do the deal. You can't have enough SOG's ......

I am pretty sure the one I just got is not SK5 since its powder coated and serrated. Regardless, that thing feels like a sword!! The balance and heft is just perfect. I would get it regardless.

If you are talking about the Tigershark S5, it is the Seki Japan made one, and is powder coated. The "Tigershark SK-5" is the name we give to the Tigershark that is satin finished, without serrations and was made before the Tigershark S5.
