Do you have baby sized hands? Do/did you have a Paramilitary 2? Give it to me straight... How's/How'd it work for you?

I keep going back and forth about buying a Paramilitary 2 in Cruwear and Micarta... Those two materials just really check the boxes for me. The problem is that my hand size is on par with the pygmy marmoset.

How's the Paramilitary 2 do as far as ergonomics go for those of you with small hands?

It may work in your favor. The rear contour sorta squishes larger hand's fingers a bit in a hammer grip.

Great pick on the steel and scale choice!

Hated the PM2 and I had a lot of the various forms of them simply because of the collection mind set. Sold every one of them except a few I gave to my son. With that said, I love the Gayle Bradley 2. Just about the same length except more cutting edge and feels so much more natural in my size small/medium gloved hands. I have three of them with different scales just to change it up. Really hoping for titanium liners and M390 or 20CV one of these days.

First thought... This is a big knife. Second thought... This is a BIG knife.

After getting over my initial reservations, I've found the knife actually fits my hand quite well in most positions. Even better than a lot of other knives that I feel fit me pretty well. The one position that doesn't fit well in my hand, is when I choke up and use the choil. It just feels awkward to have that much handle sticking out the rear.

I'm going to carry it to work for a week or so. We'll see how it goes! I think it's going to be a keeper.

Are you talking about the PM2? BIG? Compared w/what?

Congrats on your new knife but, in order to provide some context, here's a photo of the PM2 as compared with a few larger Spydercos from my collection.

From top to bottom, they are the:

1) PM2
2) Manix2 XL
3) Resilience
4) Miliary
5) Police 3
6) K2 Folder

As you can see, the PM2 is smaller than all of the others and FWIW I do NOT consider any of them too BIG for me.

And I just have "medium" sized hands. LOL! ;)

After big, comes obscene. :P

I wish my hands were large enough that a Native Chief didn't look absolutely hilarious when I hold one, lol.

"Obscene" would describe the Tantaka (w/a 5" blade) that was even too "big" for me. So much so, that I actually sold mine.

As for the Native Chief, I'm currently carrying one in my pocket.

Was going to put it in the photo above but it actually looked "too small" compared w/the others, so I left it out.

LOL! ;)

The Tatanka is one of my grails. Love big Spyderco.

I wear medium Mechanix gloves, so no ego boosts there. But the PM2 feels nice in my hands. So do all the other Spyderco knives I own. The Chief is long, but not uncomfortable. I just ignore what’s sticking out the back. Just love that long slicer of a scalpel!

My hands are probably medium size and I have tried the Chief a few times and it didn’t feel too large for me but I have tried the Military and I can’t ever get it to feel right in my hand and I really wanted it to be a good fit, so I understand what you are talking about, and on an side note I found the TRM knives to be too wide at the guard area and just didn’t fit my grip very well

I have hands like a medium sized raccoon. No problems using a PM2, although it's not my favorite knife to use (size is not an issue).

Also, you should see me pull the lids off of garbage cans in the middle of the night with these paws! I'm a wizard!

Confirmed small hands. I own three PM2s and have just talked myself out of a fourth. The handles are big - that is actually seen as one of the flaws, for some people. 3" of cutting edge in a 3.4" blade that has a handle the same size as a 4" blade Buck 110. But, it is very ergonomic and still small. I can hold the knife in like three ways. You can see diff size hands holding the knife on, I think, the BHQ review.

In short, I recommend it. It is a great handle, if not the most space-saving, but I am not trying to save every last inch and oz when I go out. Though base model is super light. You can go with some heavy copper handles if you prefer a hefty feel.

I'm one of those crazies who likes a bigger handle:blade ratio. It gives better leverage when you're actually cuttin' stuff that needs cuttin'.

Well, I gave it some time, but I think the PM2 just isn't for me. The handle is just too large. :(

It actually fits well in my hand... It just takes up too much room in my pocket, and the handle sticks out way too far. I could get a deep carry clip, but I'm reluctant to shell out more towards a knife I'm not in love with.

I really hope they make a Para 3 in this configuration, because man is it NICE!!!

Spyderco makes LOTS of smaller knives.

Have you considered the Delica, Native, Sage, Chapparal, Persistence or Efficient?

My favorite small Spyderco is the PITS. Discontinued w/a lock system similar to the Demko AD-15.
There's also the Mantra 1 or 2. Also both discontinued. Or the Manta 3; still being made, I believe.
And, of course, there's the UK Penknife. Still being made. A slipit designed to pass the UKs silly knife laws.

If you don't like or can't find these, there are still more. Good luck finding the 1 that suits you best. :)
