Does anyone out there have some 1/4'' thick brass stock, or stock they could cut down to completely flush 1/4"? I am looking for THREE plates of 1/4 inch thick, 2 1/2" X 2 1/2" to 3" x 3" brass stock for a push knife I am making from an old Nicholson file. 
I have to have the stock cut into three plates (which I do not have the machinery to do), so I can attach "pivot" type screws into the knife, as I have no drill press. The idea is to use a coping saw, drill, and file to cut the middle brass piece to fit the file tang which has been drilled three times to accept pivot style screws. Then belt sand the brass into shape and hand finish. (to better explain):thumbup: Some help would be very much appreciated.
