I just read that Fritos make a great fire starter (proly the grease) He lit one w/a match, tossed on some tender and voila! FIRE

I havent tried it. Has anyonelse tried firing up a Frito?

i've done it before, i think most corn chips work.

its fun, but i usually just eat them and use my million other firestarting goodies on me :D

why not toss the match in the tinder and presto. they can burn unpredictable and go out with out worning wont waste my only match.. IMO... thanks for shareing the thought

I saw Les do this on one show... Worked well. I dont know which show though. I have season 1 and 2 on DVD, and it was on one of those...

I like fritos....Haven't resorted to using them as a firestarter... but if you open a bag of fritos and dump in some hot hormel chilli and some cheese.... MMMMM (preemptively take some peptobismal though..I did see it on survivor man however....

Most oily items will burn pretty well. Even peanuts burn for a very long time once you get them going. Some chips are pretty easy to light, though. Puffy cheetos go up like crazy, if I remember correctly.

After seeing Les light one on his show, I tried it. They fire right up. Something about the oil they're cooked in. I'm not suggesting stuffing your psk with em' but they would work well in a pinch. Before I saw that it never would have occurred to me that Fritos were flammable. I have been eating them my whole life. Now I will use them as tinder if I need to. -DT

Has anyone tried to light them with an actual spark though? I believe they only light with a fire, I may be mistaking though.

Ever try igniting a peanut? It will burn for a couple minutes.

Frito’s and Peanut Butter are ok, ;)

…but give me a piece of RescueRiley’s jeans and I’ll have a blaze going in no time.

If your car brakes down and you need a fire in difficult conditions, use the dipstick and get some oil on a ... tampon.(of course you would need a tampon!) Light up and you will see this contraption burn for up to 15 minutes!

Tactical steel--to add to your post. If you need a spark to light that tampon, hook jumper cables to your battery and strike them like striking a firesteel. You'll get great spaeks but if you let them stick together, you won't have to worry about building a fire.
