Do you know how many knives you actually own??

If I take what I currently have, calculate the historic rate of growth, and assume that I can maintain the base rate including an adjustment for the rate of increase in the base rate; hmmmmm, lets see, oh I'll have 323,452.6 knives by the year 2115. I think that's correct.?!?

I guess I better go out and buy another knife...

Brian and Ron,

That is right where my missing piece is from, I just did not want to take all that extra time to make the third category!

So I can't add! My wife's the accountant, not me, so it must be her fault! Means that she owes me one more knife!

Take care.

Andy

Not without COUNTING!
Probably more than 50 but less than 100?

I know I only have four swords and three main gauche though.
That's not excessive is it?

Nah, I need more.

I've got one large folder that's with me almost all the time. The workhorse.

I've got one small pocket knife for places where the large folder would scare someone.

I've got 2 fixed blades, one for camping/hunting/fishing, and a USMC-issue Kabar that my sister-in-law's ex-boyfriend gave me.

I've got one small and one medium neck-knife that I don't really need but can't seem to part with.

And I've got 2 case knives, one my them was my grandfathers, that I carve/whittle with.

That's 8, and 3 of them I don't really need.

Oh yeah, and I've got one of those Gimel Bargeon D/A OTF's that I use to open envelopes. I've tried to sell it, just doesn't seem to go away???

Exactly?....not a clue!
Every now and then I'll find another in a drawer. That's always a pleasant surprise.

~23, but I'm going by memory- didn't open up my roll to count'em.

I have no idea but my collection of cabinets to put them in is growing. I have two safes but I really like to have them where I can see and play with them. I need a bigger box!

It seems that I go through some kind of depression thing about every other week and the only thing that can bring me out is to buy another knife. Is that OK! I don't know. I also find that a new gun helps but then I have to have a knife to go with the gun

This is a great hobby!

RattlerXX,
Between Handmade and Factory I must have 100+ I don't know the exact number and I'm afraid to count!

Good Collecting!
JOCKO

Probably 60 or so Custom Fixed Blades, 1 Ralph EDC (everyone should have at least 1 Darrell Ralph Folder) and 1 DeVilliers Pathfinder. Oh and probably 10 Misc Prod Folders.

I'm close to 70 pieces, I keep them in a oak 10-drawer lined chest. But I always feel like theirs so many I need to get. I have about 12 pieces on my list for this year.

Wow, I didn't know I had that many. I have 55 balisongs. I have about twenty other various knives.

Great post topic,

I don't even want to count...but have far more than I need...yet far less than I want, probably a common malady around here. My problem is if I find a blade design I really like I have an overriding need to get at least one or two 'backups' and then of course one or two as 'gifts' and then at least one more to keep 'nib'. By the time I've collected and shared a few of any one design I'm usually off and running to the next 'great blade'. Of course I can hardly ever turn down any good deal on a good blade even if it may not be my current interest cause I have lots of friends and relatives to keep supplied with good blades....since I am their knife connection. And then there's the one of a kinds you run into at the pawn shops and markets..if you don't buy up and save these lonely blades who will, its a tough job but somebody has to do the dirty work.

Don't want to count, but I don't need a calculator yet! What I've paid for them is the real issue and I'm not even gonna go there.

OUCH!......damn

I have really enjoyed the posts, and my wife had an idea to get a display cabinet built for my knives. She has read some of your replies, and has gotten the bug so to speak. (I think I would rather keep them in the safe.) She requested a knife of her own, and she is even shopping online for me a new one. That rules!!! Thank yall for the replies.

Somewhere over 50.
Suggestion, get a digital camera, even a cheap one and photograph each and every one and keep an inventory. Keep a copy in a fire safe other than where blades are. If something ever happened most ins co's won't believe you have $K's worth of knives, probably many of which can't be replaced. You may have to submit to ins co. on a rider as a collection for coverage before hand. My wife doesn't know or understand my facination for them, but I think she's seen the photo inventory. Luckily she just laughs it off.
Rememeber, you can never have to many!

I've got about 20 knives now, all in the past year. More on the way,,it's like a sickness.

Oh heck, I have been avoiding this thread but WTH.

Not counting dozens of woodcarving tools and knives, and excluding the kitchen cutlery, I own 12 production folders, 20 custom fixed blades, and 4 custom folders. The custom to production ratio is probably going to get a lot higher than 2:1 in the future.

Paracelsus

Way too many.
But I only have about 10 I use on a regular basis (only one of them is a fixed blade)
Let me guess around 100.
Maybe I'll count tomorrow.
