being patriotic at all.

if the flag is in tattered shape do you know what to do with it...?
here, at this link are many things that most don't
know about..in how to treat your living US flag.

if you are flying a dirty or tatered flag take IT DOWN
and if you see one tell them...and be patriotic

comments please

I don't know if this is true everywhere, or how long they'll have it up, but our lcaol walmart is working with someone(think local American Legion) to let you drop off yoru older flags there and they will be properly disposed of. Was about tto right big thing about boy scouts or American legion taking care of that, but jsut read your link, and it is in there.

If you see a person or coporation thta has an old tattered one out, or that leaves it out all night without lights, etc, you might try kindly asking them to dispose of it(or take it down at night, depending on complaint). WIth businesses who have this problem, most will fix it quick, and if they don't, you might write second letter telling them you are going to start a boycott of them. It will get fixed quick. But most places I've written to or talked to about tattered flags have fixed it.

Another thing I've talked to some places about is having another flag as high or higher than US flag(and I am aware of the exception for Texas state flags). Many just don't even think about this, will have identical flagpoles put in, and just run all flags straight to top, for "aesthetics". Anyways, another point to talk to people about and make sure they do it righyt.

yeah we stole california fair and square over 150 years ago:) my high school sweethearts mom was mexican and a immigrant and proud to be a american. the kids got smacked if they spoke spanish out in public! most of the new immigrants just want all the oppertunies but dont want to join us as americans.

Two things that torqe me: The Flag flying in the rain (when I know they don't ever take it down ever), and flying at night without direct lighting. Flying in the rain is permissable so long as it is not raised in rain. That does not excuss leaving it up until it falls apart from rot.

I layed off this thread for a while because I get tweeked real bad over abuses to it. I'll leave now before I start cussing.

At work we have several American flags and follow strict rules, the installation being a US Army installation. Raised at 0600, lowered at 1800, per Lt. Col.'s orders. We used to lower it at sunrise, per another CO's orders. The one flag that flies in the rain is our storm flag, which is the smallest size and is designated when rain is forcasted. I have flag detail once or twice per week and have never had a fellow officer careless with the flags or disrespectful. But driving around town I see quite a few flags being used wrong. I get upset because of the folk's ignorance or just plain disrespect. Unfortunately, we are pretty much stuck with some of the fools and trash in this country. I also agree on voicing my opinion to the persons, but as mentioned in your previous posts, you do have to be carefull not to get arrested in the process, even though the schmucks should be.
