Do You Know Who Owns This Maple Handled 1084 Fisk Bowie???

Murray, thanks for the image of the fighter. You sure do some good imaging. I hope one day to devote enought time to improve mine. To all those who have been so kind to help me try and find the Bowie that matches, it has a 10" blade and the same remarkable wook as this fighter, which Murray was kind enough to trade to me.Thanks again, Murray.

I have a feeling it's going to turn up.

I just saw one that looks incredibly like the Bowie, that sold on Les Robertson's site, and have an email in to him right now. I am crossing my fingers. If there's a God..........

The knife that is on Les's site was originally part of the set.

Don't be put off by the "ironwood" handle description.

Thank you very much for the info. I knew that wood was from the same block as the others in the set. I just could not match up the grain on that Robertson Bowie with another image of the Bowie I had. Trying to reconcile both grains between the two images was causing me some problems, but not that Ironwood comment in the ad. Otherwise, it looked dead-on like a match to the set. In my email to Les Robertson, I asked to have my email address and interests given to the buyer, so here's hoping. Thanks much for confirming it to have been part of the set!

The grain is like the finger print. If it is a match, I wonder what happened to the sheath? Good Luck.

Yep, I agree. It was difficult to judge match-up because of different lighting, image angle and angle of the handle in each image.

Thanks, Kevin, as it leaves the question open, to the extent I will need new images of whatever knife I find. Only thing is, with the blade shape, guard and ferrule all being the same, and the wood obviously being from the same material, either one of them could be the match to the set. If you have looked at the one I refer to on the Robertson site, and the one at the thread's top, give me your opinion, if you would please. Same knife or not? If not, do you agree either one could be the set's match? The Bowie, according to Jerry, had a 10" blade, as do both of these images.

The search becomes more complicated?

Talk about complications. The image at the top of the thread is of a Bowie with an 8" blade. The Robertson Bowie has a 10" blade. Jerry was absolute about it being a set of three, the Bowie being 10". But it appears there was, thereafter, a similar knife made from what looks like the same handle material. Now I want 'em all.

IMO, the Robertson Bowie is not a match for your set. The grain is off and the handle butt is more squared off, where the other three are slightly tapered. I examined this 3 pc. set on two different occasions. I do remember the largest having about a 9-10" blade. I should be of more help here. :o

I thought the grain was way off myself, in comparing the Randy Morgan Bowie to the Robertson Bowie. But if you and Jerry are right about it being around a 10" blade on the Bowie, we are using the wrong fingerprint to start with, since the Randy Morgan Bowie is described as having a 7 7/8" blade. Dilemma.

All of the info I have about the set changing hands has it terminating with Randy Morgan, before being split apart. So I think it may be more probable that the Bowie was an 8 incher? Think I will check back with Jerry and ask him to review this thread.

A photo exist of all three knives together side by side that will shed light on the mystery.
I'm trying to get that photo.

Contact Bob Neal and ask him fo ra copy of the picture he used when he had it on his site!

Stephen

Kevin, thank you very, very much. If we can get that, I will know exactly what I am looking for. And thanks, Stephen.

The Bob Neal photo will settle the matter, but my senile brain is starting to think that there are actually 4 knives involved. A 9.5", 7.5", 5.5" and a 4"?

It will be interesting to see the fact of the matter.

This is getting more & more interesting. Thanks Betzner for bringing this to our attention.

As I said, I have examined this set twice. I know once was at Jerry's and once was at Blade. But unless I'm mistaken, Dave Ellis owned them at the particular Blade Show, or at least they were on his table.

This set and the individual pieces have gotten around quite a bit.

I do really like the set. As to how many there are, I am not going to concern myself with that aspect, but just do the best I can to find whatever matches the pair I have. The blade on the boot is 3 3/4" and 6" on the fighter.
