Do you let other people touch or use your Sebenza (what ever model it is)or is it strictly private reserve?

I let people touch them and handle mine. It's just a knife... plus a production knife so it can be easily replaced.

I think i'd want to know what they want it for, and if it seems reasonable why not? I don't think I'd give it to someone who wanted to pry something open, or scratch their name in a rock or something. As Hairless Twinkie pointed out, they can be replaced, but I'd rather not have to cough up the $450 bucks, or ask my friend to do the same.

Absolutely! Then it opens to door to talk about it and explain how it came to be mine. And as mentioned above it is only a knife.

I have no problems letting people handle my knives, I have handmade knives vastly more expensive than a CRK that I'm happy to let people see and hold. I generally do not let people borrow or use my knives though, with a couple of exceptions and those being good, like minded knife friends. :)

I have no problem with other people that would like to see and touch my knives. It's great to show interrested people what my passion is about.
Like Haze I don't let other people use them. I have seen so many people abusing knives, that I don't want my blades to be their victim.

I let them fondle it and use it but if there is intent to use I'll ask the reason. Never had anyone drop or pry with with my knives.

Threads like this turn people away from the product. But I guess it adds to the mystique for others.

How so? I think it's a legitimate question. A Sebenza is expensive, and some might be worried something could happen to it.

Myself, I'd absolutely let someone hold mine, and have, but I watch them like a closely. A drop on concrete would be very, very bad.

but luckily the older I get the lesser it bothers me.

Yes of course as long as I think they are responsable, it is never out of my sight. It is a great way to show quality to someone who may never get to see a knife like these. My good bird hunting budy has seen the light after 2 years of playing with and cleaning pheasant with my sebenza. He is on the look out for a small right now.

I'm still wondering if we're talking about an actual Sebenza or if "Sebenza" is a code word ;) . My answer is dependent on which it is!

I'm always happy to let someone look at any knife of mine. If they want to use it as a knife that's fine too. But when someone says let me borrow your knife, I always ask what they plan on cutting. It amazes me at how people will use a knife to pry/use as a screwdriver when the correct tool is steps away.

Yes. They may look at it any time. But letting some one use it most likely not . I Love to see they their face when they learn the price . Jake.

I rarely find myself in a situation where someone is even interested in or cares about seeing, holding, fondling, or using my Sebenza. Every now and again my wife will ask to use it for some random task--I keep hoping that one of these times she will say something like "you know, after handling and using your Sebenza I can really see the added value of having such an expensive piece of fine cutlery. I think you should buy another just in case this one gets lost or broken." But alas, that day has not come yet . .

If they are interested in its Sebenza flavor, yes. But to use as a knife, no. Anyone who knows how to safely use a knife would already have one on them. If they have cutting to do, I would do it for them, or hand them the Victorinox Explorer Plus in my pocket.

Only my girlfriend has touched my Sebenza....other women have tried, but my girlfriend got angry. And guys.....forget it!...they aren't allowed to touch my Sebenza, I don't go that way (not that there's anything wrong with it).

They can hold mine and i usually preempt them of the cost before handing it over to them. I have never come across someone asking to use it after they know what it cost.

Most non knife people can't deploy the blade anyway.
And the "very sharp" caution is clearly communicated.

Sharp expensive = don't ask for it.
Lol
