Do you like assisted opening knives

I would probably like them if I didn't know better, or possibly if I were retarded. there are a hell of a lot of kershaw knives I've passed on because they're AO. they're like the 40 S&W of the knife world.

Not a fan of A/Os. :thumbdn: I tried, but in the end, I couldn't force myself to like them.

Is it just me, or has this topic been beaten to death here lately?

FWIW..I like AO's and I like Manuals. They both serve their purpose...

Do you like assisted opening knives
Generally no.

Not because of the action though, it's because there aren't any assisted-open knives that I find attractive.

Honestly, I prefer manual to AO or automatic knives, mainly because I Like the feel, but they are easier to clean also. However, some AO and automatic knives are excellent and some are not great executions, it really depends on the model.

I think a flipper-assisted knife is a great way to go. As for autos, I don't understand why they're illegal. Waves are MUCH quicker anyway. o_O

I like AO on a very small knife, like my Kershaw Chive, because it's kind of hard to get my thumb on the stud.

On larger knives it's usually not a problem, so I prefer simple manual on those.

Do I like assisted opening knives? My answer is yes! Yes I do!

AO's are a little too "gimmicky" for me.

Had a couple of em', did not like them at all, and gave both of them away.

AO or not, both are fine with me..Depends on the individual knife more than anything..

I like them so long as the deployment feels fairly natural - not too forceful (tiny tighe breaker) or too slow (zt 350). Kershaw gets it right most of the time.

Your zt 350 was slow? Mines the opposite, it will almost jump out of your hands..

I don't prefer them, but they can be neat. I might like them better if I didn't have to put extra effort into closing them once I'm done using them. I like my BM Warn pretty well, but it's the same situation there too.

My ZT 0301 was faster than any automatic I ever had. That said, I prefer framelock flippers like the XM-18 or the new collaboration coming out. "Manual" is best for me but I wouldn't turn my nose up at a good, fast A/O either.

I agree with Kentucky, for me it depends on the individual knife. I would not like my Buck Vantage as an AO, but I love it the way it is as a manual, but I do not think I would like my Benchmade Nitrous Stryker as a manual...
I like just about all flavors of knives, it just depends on the knife and the day. One thing that is nice about AO and autos though, is when you have a deep slice on the end of your thumb tip. A couple of weeks ago I managed to slice both thumb tips pretty bad when modding a couple knives... It really made it a pita to open certain knives.

I love assisted opening. The first real knife I ever carried was a Kershaw, then I found a Benchmade 890 Torrent. Loved them both. Quick opening and didn't take a lot of effort. I picked up a frame lock at Blade and I'm still getting use to it.

Assisted opening

Im not a huge fan but it isnt a deal breaker. I tend to prefer manual because theres versitility in opening speeds but will get AOs if i like them. I have almost no need for crazy fast opening speeds.
