do you like the look of flamed titanium?

Never liked flamed or anodized titanium. I like bare, sand blasted, or stone washed titanium.

i'm thinking i'm not going to bother with this Ti flaming anymore, its kinda gay i think, too bright for my liking i like how Striders are done but that's about it. time to break out the sandpaper!

I know it takes all kinds to make a world but I still find it hard to believe that this appeals to anybody.

actually instead of me sanding it off again, what would happen if i just keep flaming it? will it get dark again or something?

I like heat anodised Ti because electrically anodised is too bright and even.
Flamed has more muted colours.

This is what I like. The muted colors seem to wear better, and as I understand it, flame anodizing is more durable than electrical anodizing as it goes deeper into the metal itself(?)

Anyone know what kind of temperatures result in the different colours? It might be possible to bring a piece of Ti up to temp in a PID controlled forge so that you could have a uniform titanium oxide blue or purple or whatever. Might come out really neat if the scales were highly polished before the heat treatment.

I've had it with flamed Ti, after sanding and re-sanding and doing the flaming 3 times now i've had just about enough of it, it looks silly and fruity and i should have never done it in the first place. Finally i'm back to where i started, you can only notice one little spot on the lock bar cutout that i couldn't sand off well. i'm glad that's over with.

I like it on the back of my one Strider PTs but I wouldnt want it on a larger surface!
