Do you like the RAM?

SV, my hands aren't large in length, but they are really thick. Just a bit bigger than yours (I held my RAM the same way, and I have a bit more palm left over at the hilt of the knife.

My fingers are short and beefy, so in a straight grip hold, the "choil separation" is dead center where my hand wants to rest for a 4 finger grip.

Slade's an amateur..............;)

i told youse guys i was working on something special to be released in 2k9. but as of now the triple-flip behind the back right hand to left hand throw to open ends badly 1 out of 3 times. ;)

SV, first two pics are a slant grip and full grip w/ choil, last two pics are the same grips without the choil.

As you can see in the second pic, my thumb is far too close to the blade, and in the latter two pics, my hand is far enough away from the blade to lose the leverage of the pivot area...

If the RAM were without choil, and sized between the original and the ZT0500 I think it would fit great and give me a bit more blade.

All I know is that Thomas liked the idea when a lock upgrade was discussed last summer, beyond that your guess is as good as mine.

Thanks for the link JJ. First, as always, G&G produce some beautiful knives! I think I would like the lock button in the spine as it would become more ambidextrous friendly.

Seems like I remember Thomas saying they were looking
real close at doing a RAM with that lock button on the
spine. I don't think he said it was a definite, but they
were really considering it.

Oh that Ram III is stunning with wood and damascus! I'm thinking about getting one of the basic models in 09 hopefully early 09. Looking at different sales pictures at knife dealers sites I've noticed some have a three screw clip, and some have the center clip like the MUDD. Is the one with centered clip the RAM III? Does the RAM III have the new 14C steel in it?

Hum, not so interested in a clip activated lock. It seems to me that when you pull this from your pocket it would drop the resistance the lock makes keeping the blade closed. Perhaps its a competitor to the 'wave'.

To the OP's question. Things I like, it is very very smooth. It deploys faster then, or at least as fast, as some assisted knives. The lock is very nice and the clip is well placed and small. I love playing with the knife. Things I, personally, don't care for, blade shape, the large choil/short grip. The clip is a bit too stiff and I would prefer it to be a folded over design.

I do not really dislike the choil itself. It is designed in such a way as to not take up much of the usable blade. The part I do not care for is that the handle is somewhat short for my hands unless I use the choil, as others have mentioned, which requires me to reposition my hands. I am somewhat uncomfortable doing this quickly as I can see overshooting it and getting a cut.

they are so purdy i thought about it.....but then the 800 bucks went to a new bumper.....$*$*#(#(

If I had the money for a custom, the RAM would be #1 on my list.
Man is it a sweet looking blade.

Yup, I am a RAM fan. Mine also has some of firebert's excellent work:

I may be getting one soon in a trade, I certainly like the looks of the knife. I might be able to comment on the knife itself sometime in the near future.
