Other than a few family heirlooms that I'd like my relatives to keep, I don't really mind what those that inherit my stuff do with my guns and knives.
I'd like them to enjoy them. If that means keeping them and using them, that's great. If it means selling them to fund other activities they love, that's just as good. A couple of my close friends have a true passion for knives and firearms, they'll be able to help my family figure out what's worth something and what's not. I'd like those friends to keep and use some of my kit, since it would mean something to them.
My knife collection doesn't include any rare art knives or super expensive customs. And all of them are used, even the more expensive ones. So I don't think it's worth preserving as a true collection.
The only material thing that I truly want my family and friends to take care of is my library. Besides having some rare out of print books in several languages, signed first editions and such, it includes a lot of research material on different subjects I've worked on (original interviews, diaries, etc.). I've put a lot of effort into it, and plan to continue to do so.
