Hey everybody, I've recently picked up a Nexus knife and am looking for the tool I can use to remove the handle bolts as I want to do a minor bit of radius work on the scales at the back. I have a picture of it here (I'm doing a link instead of just posting the image because it's not mine) but have no idea what it's called. Any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

I call them snap ring pliers. They are listed as retaining ring pliers in the McMasterCarr catalog. I would think that you could find them at a local auto parts store too.

Try looking up "specialty screwdrivers" in McMasterCarr, then look at drilled spanner screwdrivers. I think this is what you might be looking for. Check part number 94062A114 or that should get you to the right page.

They are snap ring pliers, as mentioned above. You can buy them at harbor freight (online or locally) for cheap, all of the other places listed should have one too.

They are External snap ring pliers, but they are not the right tool for that fastener.
If you are going to just use them once, OK

Ric got it right

If you just need do do it once or twice, put 2 pins in the holes that fit tightly(check your number drills).

Put a small bar ( screwdriver) between the pins and turn.

Thanks again--I don't plan on ever removing them again--I've just had them off to do a little radiusing with my router table, and I put them back on with epoxy to ensure a weather seal. I appreciate the info nonetheless, though--this forum is a tremendous resource.

ive seen that type of head many time in public bathrooms, schools and college dorms. they are made like that so they dont come apart easily. any store that sells public fixtures should carry the driver.
