Do you remember your first knife?

A medium-sized Victorinox SAK. My grandpa gave to me and I still got it, but it´s pretty used (blade opening is everything but smooth because of the dirt around the pivot pin and the scales are scratched). Although I have never sharpened it, the edge hasn´t dulled too much yet (it´s not shaving sharp by any means, but it´s quite usable). It doesn´t show the slightest sign of rust, even tho I never cleaned it very well and it never saw any kind of oil.
It´s just great! While thinkin´ about this knife I´m tempted to think about buying another SAK...:)

My first was a Frost Mora with a red wooden handle and black plastic sheath. I bought it when I was 7, and now nearly 30 years later I still have the blade - the grip was destroyed because of too much throwing. I really loved that knife.

My first knife was also a Victorinox SAK. My dad gave it to me used with a chunk of red plastic gone and a broken tip on the smaller blade. I carried that thing for 5 years before I got a new one.

first knife fas so long long long ago :)
It was some novelty knife, shaped like a ladys leg :) someting sub 2" Was unable to cut anything, but was the cool toy to have (for 10 year old kid :)

first knife = a black-handled slipjoint that occasionally bit me back.

I kept it for years and my younger brothers eventually destroyed it.

It was a piece of junk, tho.

Plan on doing the same for my boys...;)

I remember mine quite well, it was an old cattargus jack knife (2 blades) with tort. shell scales. My grandmother, who just recently died at 93, gave it to me the day after my Grandpas funeral (it was his knife) in 1974. well to say the least being five, I atfer falling in love whittling, lost it after three days of whittling on Granmas porch!~!! nothing has been the same since. my wife says im still 'looking" for Grandpas knife...mmmm maybe theres something to that??

My first knife was a Buck 303 cadet. My father gave it to me when I was around seven. I still have it, though I don't carry it very often.

I still have mine after 23 years, got it when I was 7 - a Schrade Old Timer Stockman 80T. It has a beautiful patina on the carbon-steel blades, and only gets better with age :)

My first knife was a Boy Scout folder that I received as a Cub Scout in the late seventies. To me it was the greatest thing since sliced bread, but inevitably it became lost in the shuffle of adolescence and by the time I'd reached my teenage years it had disappeared altogether because my attention was understandably focused on other pleasures, like women. :D

the good old cub scout knive.I carried it every day for while in cub scout. Then I carried a stockman for the next 20 some years.

SAK, super tinker. I got it during college and kept it by my side for around 10 years, 'til I put it down during office remodelling and it walked away. I replaced it with a SAK Manager and a LM Wave so I can't complain.

was a Barlow folder, if I recall correctly. My allowance was $1.00 every Saturday, and I think I saved for a couple of weeks and bought it down at Kress five & dime store.

A 1" key chain knife. Picked it out myself after "winning" a prize playing skeetball. I was 7 years old.
