Do you remember your first "serious" knife?

My SOG Seal 2000 from the early 2000's (I think it was somewhere around 2005). First knife I bought myself for myself and the first knife in that price category I think it was around 200 Euro / 250 $.

late 80s cold steel tanto folder... back before they really had names... it was Seki City Japan made san mi steel.... loved that knife, eventually traded it for an early version Spyderco Civilian with the titanium colored finish and rubber handle inserts..... loved that knife too....

First quality knife was a Gerber Mark II I bought in 1978 or so. L6 tool steel. Completely impractical, of course. Next real knife after that was a Buck 110, bought in 1979. I wore the Buck knife on my belt at work for about 10 years. I still have both.

My blacked out Spyderco Manix 2. I remember thinking “$115 for a knife?” But i had some extra cash and this was around the time when you couldn’t find a paramilitary 2 in stock anywhere. I bought it and loved it but my wife kept joking about how big it was so I traded it for a Spyderco Native. Man i miss that knife. Now im hooked on my para 3

First "serious" knife I received as a child from my father: Buck 110

First "serious" knife I purchased for myself 20-ish years later: Spyderco Delica 4 in black

It was a SAK, 1986ish. Carried SAKs exclusively until 1990ish when I bought a Spydie SS Police.

Benchmade auto when I was 12ish I think. EDC'd that single knife(just ONE knife!!!) for years like a crazy person till a friend accidentally kicked it into the river. The replacement I bought for it, Benchmade Rift auto, eventually got me into knife addiction. From there, addiction took over...

My first serious knife was a Case Barlow. (This was very serious for me due to the cost.) Not sure how old I was, but it was probably at about 9-10 years old and I paid for it myself. Had some less expensive knives (Imperials) before that.

I remember buying it at the local hardware store like it was yesterday and it was a long time ago. Used it for years. The blade broke on it cutting some sticks and Case replaced the knife for me. I still have it's replacement although it is worn out and the scales are chipped.

I bought a Benchmade Griptilian at the PX on Ft Hood before going to Iraq in 2006.

Before that I had a Gerber LST that I rarely carried. I bought it at the PX on Ft Campbell in the late 90’s.
