Do you rotate or tend to carry the same knives for the same occasion?

I find I am creature of habit and the cost has very little to do with it.

1. The Resident - Byrd Robin 1 2.375"
Clip Delete - It was bought ($13 a decade ago) as a traveling knife (Theft proof apparently, draconian law and courthouse legal) and somehow became a permanent resident of my front pocket except on Dress occasions (Had 10 years).

2. The Casual - New to me Delica 4 FRN 2.875", picked up as an Amazon Return to replace an older model.

3. The Dress - TA Davison Custom Mammoth Swayback/Sheepsfoot 2.9375" in a soft leather slip (Had 6 years).

4. The Outdoors - Zero Tolerance ZT 0200 3.875" (Had 8 years).

I have tried rotating yet these knives somehow end up back in my pocket.

How many here are rotators and how many are creatures of habit? What are your "Go To" Knives?

I carry one of these 5 knives daily, sometimes for many days in a row.

Although I typically only own 1-2 at a time. Currently a Non flip M390 XM18.

-XM 18 3.5 variations
-Para 2, Manix 2 lw or Lil temp original
-Custom Dozier Folders
-Burke Pro Rock star
-Benchmade Autos
 
I don't actually rotate, as in a regular list. I just think of a knife and carry it for a day or a week. Or someone here mentions one and I might pull mine to enjoy for a while. Sure there are a few that are single purpose or I carry for work such as my SAKs. Some times I'll put three or four of my better knifes in my pockets when I know one would do it all and just see if I happen to have enough to do that I can use all of them.

I've come kind of late to Delicas so that has been one of my focuses the last few months. I have three now :
  • Black FRN Wharncliffe
  • Carbon Fiber HAP-40
  • Green FRN ZDP-189 (carried and used that today)
and
  • Tasman Salt 2 with H1 and black FRN . . . heck for all practical purposes it is a Delica . . . Titanium clip though stock !
 
I'm weird. I go through phases. Lately, it's been the Yojimbo 2 and MD/FF Gent select.
 
I carry a 940 at work because to gritty for a bearing knife but off work I have a bunch of stuff I just pick at random
 
I rotate a lot since getting into doing reviews. Lately, I’ve had a lot of knives come through, and had some structure changes at work which have increased my knife usage at work above what it already was. I’ve been sourcing cardboard to take home for review prep/evaluation to speed up the process of getting familiar with them in use, and often switching my carry during the day.

As such, I get a lot of pocket and cut time with both review pieces and personal knives. When I carry a personal knife, the most common ones lately have been...

Weekdays I rotate 100%. I have 8 in my rotation and I typically carry 2 per week. That way all of them get carried equally.

Weekends I pick a knife for the circumstances, out of a couple of work knives and a couple of EDC-type knives.
 
I have been carrying a Vic Small Tinker for the last four months or so (before that a 111mm Vic Adventure for 15 years). Added a pipe tool knife (Rough Rider Pipe Doctor) and have been carrying also with the Small Tinker for the last couple of weeks. I like the RR knife quite a bit. The wharncliffe blade is surprisingly useful.

As far a s rotation goes.... it is not something I consciously think about. It simply doesn't matter to me. If the knives I'm carrying regularly now aren't up to the job, I'll add another. I keep a couple knives in my "field bag" that I keep inside my truck when working; so I do have some more robust modern's that might be used on occasion. All I have to do is slip them into my pocket. A ZT 0770 or Steel Will Mini Cutjack are generally what I choose. I will sometimes slip my Benchmade Mini Presidio II folder in a pocket along with the Vic Small Tinker. I feel the Benchmade is a fine knife.

Right now I have 7 knives that I will EDC I just grab which ever works for the day when I get more knives I might put away some and keep some out to have options like I do but not be overwhelmed.
 
I have a few dozen favorites of the bunch that I usually grab one of depending on what I'm wearing/planning to be doing that day. That said, ten or twelve are one knife model, and another four are another knife model, so there's less variation than it sounds like.

Guns are a different story--I carry one of the same three guns 99% of the time, despite owning piles of them.
 
I usually just grab whatever turns me on at the moment. I go a day or maybe a few days before I choose something else. I tried to carry the same knife for a week, but couldn't follow those restrictions (lack of discipline?) so I change it up whenever I feel like it. This is all I got but still causes me to sit and stare at the dizzying array every morning. However, since January, it's usually one of the 940's.

I rotate. This week it was a ZT0900, ZT0609, and a MD Gent. I try to grab something different everyday. The ZT0850 was carried last night.
 
Same work knife everyday.(Keyshaw Blackout), Same dress knife.(BM 940-1), Same two non work/non dress knives.(BM 940, Spydie GB2)
At the moment, I can’t imagine wanting more. It’s extremely satisfying.
 
I have various favorites, but have been carrying the MD Keen Laconico clipped, and a 3" fixed Busse in a leather cross-draw sheath. I've carried two every day for several yrs in this manner and have not seen any reason to change.

S&W M&P .45 Shield
Ruger LCP .380 (It's always in a pocket holster in the right rear pocket whether attire prohibits carrying or not).
 
Grimsmo Norseman everyday (lots of cutting boxes, packing straps to scoring drywall and SM insulation in a pinch when I can't find my Olfa) unless I need to include food prep (when camping) then it's Shiro 95.

I don't really need to carry anything else as those two cover my needs.
